People who refer to a father figure as "daddy"

I am sure I called my Dad "daddy" when I was a child, but I agree for myself to call him "daddy" now is just weird. The only time I have used "daddy" is when I am sucking up to him to ask him for a favour. Like huggles said. "Daddy dearest do you think you could"...?

I've always used Dad and Daddy interchangeably to refer to my father. I thought I'd make that last bit clear. I used Mom and Mommy to refer to my mother.

I can't imagine calling Phil "Daddy". The first person that I ever heard call their partner "Daddy" was a submissive referring to her dominant.

I didn't realize that the two of you were buddies, so my bad for calling you on that. It sounded like a horrible thing to say to a person who is obviously upset that his children don't keep in contact with him. I didn't realize the two of you were chums, and joking around, so I apologize for that.

The ONLY other time I have ever said something snarky to you was when you were posting the pop-corn eating emoticons in CptRubyHeart's thread talking about her divorce, which we both know many other people were annoyed about. I just found that very obnoxious considering what the girl is going through, which apparently the opinion was shared, considering your post was deleted.

Other than that one post, (which by the way, I've forgotten about, I don't sit on grudges,) I don't have a problem with you.

Apology accepted. The Canada forum knows me quite well; and they can tell you what kind of a person and friend I am.

I was and will continue to be extremely sarcastic when anyone posts personal stuff online and expects to be pitied and babied around.

If anyone -and yes, that includes CRH- take themselves that seriously in a public online forum, there is something wrong indeed - just not with me ;)

cheerios.

:P

All is good. No hard feelings on my part with anyone.

Len is a definitely BFF. We have a rollicking good time on the n00bz thread, and all over the boards.

In answer to Len's little quiz, the answer (of course!) is c. "all of the above'. Yes, I'm a n00bz  . Yes, I svck   . :innocent:

I agree with Len about people posting their personal sorrows online. If you do that - expect to get blasted.

The reason I posted here was that there were lots of posts about what everyone calls their fathers. I didn't see any posts from parents about what their kids call them.

So I thought I would contribute that little nugget of information. I honestly hesitated about writing the last line "That's when they talk to me at all" . I guess I couldn't help myself in tossing that in. Probably would have been better not to include that in hindsight.

I have posted on VJ in the past my full sobstory about my relationship with my kids. I did that in a "safe" little backwater of VJ, the stuck AP@NVC thread where only nice people :star: hang out and I felt fairly safe about the reaction it would receive. If you really want the voyeuristic details of my drama, PM me and I'll point you to it.

Oh, what do I call my Dad? Usually I call him "Abba" - the Hebrew word for father. Sometimes I call him Dad.

I'm not sure why my kids still call me Daddy (when they talk to me :P ) - if they were to change to 'Dad' or 'Old Man' or "Hey You' or whatever that would be cool. As long as they talk to me it's cool.

I understand what you guys are saying re: posting personal info here. I would never ask online people, "should I get a divorce" or "is my husband cheating on me?" Of course, I would talk to family and friends. Which leads me to believe, maybe people that spill their entire personal guts out don't have anyone else to talk to? In which case, I kinda feel bad for them! If they have to ask virtual strangers for help instead of real friends and family. That's why I'd never make fun of them, because maybe they have no one else

I can't remember if I ever called my Dad, Daddy. I think so. I call him Dad now.

I call my Mom, Mom, when I'm talking to her... but when my siblings and I talk about her, we refer to her as "Mummy". It's actually really strange or should I say, weird, LOL.

My Dad and his siblings called their parents, "Mother" and "Father" - never Mom, Dad or anything else!! I always thought that was crazy. It's not like they have a super formal family or anything that was just what they called them!

I call my mother "mom" and my father "dad". When I am talking to my husband, I call him by his name, or pookie shnookums or snuggle umpkins (totally kidding, just made myself sick there :P ). When I am talking about my husband to our son, I refer to him as "daddy" or "dada". Of course, my kid is 1 and I am just happy when he says dada or mama. It sounded like daddy the other day, which was cool.

When my grandmother was alive, my mom and her brother would refer to her as "mommy", which sounded odd to me ... because they were in their 50s.

Um. Wow. Ok, some serious 'tudes dudes. I wasn't offended or insulted. Sheesh. For the record, I am a nerd who loves words. My MA is in British Lit, so I blame Shakespeare.

And, uh, Treble? No one's attacking. Chill out seriously.

No one every said you WERE offended! Please, just for me, stop saying the same thing over and over again.

Also, I don't have an attitude. Can you hear my voice? Can you see my face? How could you possibly know if I'm smiling and happy while writing this or not?

I take nothing on the message board seriously.

Again, so many people don't read things properly, they just read a comment in 2 seconds and then post some words that don't even correlate. While I used the words "attack" did you not see my words in parenthesis afterward?

So you call your dad, Daddy! We get it! Good for you!

"...My hair's mostly wind,

My eyes filled with grit

My skin's white then brown

My lips chapped and split

I've lain on the prairie and heard grasses sigh

I've stared at the vast open bowl of the sky

I've seen all the castles and faces in clouds

My home is the prairie and for that I am proud…

If You're not from the Prairie, you can't know my soul

You don't know our blizzards; you've not fought our cold

You can't know my mind, nor ever my heart

Unless deep within you there's somehow a part…

A part of these things that I've said that I know,

The wind, sky and earth, the storms and the snow.

Best say that you have - and then we'll be one,

For we will have shared that same blazing sun." - David Bouchard
