Yes Pop, you should definitely meet up with us Canadian gals!

I think the one thing that really helps me, is that I will be going home alot.... I was home for 2 weeks in March/April, going for a week in early June, August for a bachelorette party, September for a wedding, Christmas.... and in between, my Mom and sister are coming to go wedding dress shopping!

I was so anxious to get here i didn't have time to miss Canada ... Maybe some friends and family but hasn't been long enough for that really .. and i must be the only person that thinks Tim Hortons should roll itself up and move on ..... would be ok but i hate being treated with bad service and the coffee isn't good enough to make up for crappy service and people who dont know how to STIR .. i'm getting a take out coffee i don't walk around ( or drive) with a spoon in my pocket. Maybe one day it will hit me but i know one thing ... come winter i will be happy i am here in florida and not canada i had enough of the cold and snow

Hey I don't like tim horton's coffee either, but I really like their sandwiches and doughnuts.

Oh and get back to us around September, after you have experienced a Florida summer

I did that last year ... but somehow still found it better than having to spend 5 minutes putting tons of stuff on to keep warm and go outside and still shiver your butt off.. but i came straight from a florida summer to spending the winter in canada ... was quite a contrast

 Girl, that all stops when you are working 50 hours a week though with so few days off. In Canada a lot of jobs get vacation time in your first year. In the US, my first job in the private sector, I got 3 personal days off a YEAR until my 2nd year in which then I got 5 vacation days off but no personal days. That was all.

Even now I get a lot of vacation time from my state job but I can't always take it the way I want it or when I want it.

The thing is to go home as much as you can, even if it is for a few days but it does become hard when you start gaining responsibility (home, husband, pets, job, etc)

I miss Canada every day. Even if I'm not thinking directly about it, I'm missing it. My sister in law is now dating a guy from Toronto and I'm hoping it works out because my husband said that if she decided to move there, He'd want to move there to be by her. :D

"...My hair's mostly wind,

My eyes filled with grit

My skin's white then brown

My lips chapped and split

I've lain on the prairie and heard grasses sigh

I've stared at the vast open bowl of the sky

I've seen all the castles and faces in clouds

My home is the prairie and for that I am proud…

If You're not from the Prairie, you can't know my soul

You don't know our blizzards; you've not fought our cold

You can't know my mind, nor ever my heart

Unless deep within you there's somehow a part…

A part of these things that I've said that I know,

The wind, sky and earth, the storms and the snow.

Best say that you have - and then we'll be one,

For we will have shared that same blazing sun." - David Bouchard

This makes me realize just how much I miss the United States. Canada's good and everything, but I really do miss the U.S. as it's my home and everything I knew was there. As some have said (only in reverse), even if I get Canadian citizenship, I'll always be an American and damn proud of it.

Well I do plan on having a job by August, and I'm still going to go home for those events.... I just plan on flying Friday night after work, and returning Sunday night! As for Christmas, luckily it falls on a Friday this year so I'm covered for then too!

Plus, I'm going solo most of the time so my husband can take care of the responsibilities!! Except at Xmas, he'll be joining me then.

You're not too far away from Jill, Amanda and I. You will have to join us for one of our Canadian girl get togethers sometime. :D

It is hard, but you get used to it. I always come to this board and see people who have come from overseas and I imagine it's even harder for them. We're lucky we're just a country over. You will miss certain things about Canada but learn to find new loves here. After about two years here its all starting to melt together. I miss what I left behind but I look forward to what is to come.

I love South Jersey in the summer, it was a summer down in OC that made me blurt out to my husband: "Lets move here instead!" And then we did.

I never realized you were all so close!!!! I'm so excited!!! Can we do it this summer before the weather goes cold again?!!!! Excited ain't I? ;)

My fiancé is originally from OC, his family has a couple of places on the beach, so we are there every weekend! Even winter time. We are getting married there in July :)

Let me know if u gals plan on getting together...are any of you on FB? Yes I'm a Facebook junkie :( LOL!

I told my fiancé not to make fun of me at the beginning if I say something dumb! Haha!

Yes and no. They have to meet "amanda's roller coaster criteria":

A) can't be made out of wood.

B ) can't be ones where I have to stand

C) Must go up and down and not involve circular motion like a tea cup.
