Hello to all fellow VJrs,

I have been hearing for the last couple of weeks about this CFO seminar...could anyone please explain what is the purpose of this seminar? Is it a requirement before coming here to the states? I just thought once my fiance would pass his interview, that he could just get his plane ticket and fly to the US. Would my fiance have to pay for this seminar? Does he have to call to make arrangements? I was curious how so many people know to do this after they have passed his/her interview...word of mouth or does the embassy tell you that you have to do this?

Please, any input about this would be very helpful and appreciated.

Its an orientation to let the fiancee know what to expect & yes its a requirement for filipinos. Its only a couple of hours long & the only two locations I am aware of are Cebu & Manila. For more details go to:

If his a K1 visa holder, no need to schedule in CFO seminar...there is one in St Mary's near Katipunan MRT station in Cubao...it is a must...he cannot go out unless he has a sticker on his passport from CFO...he must attend the seminar first to have a certificate before getting a sticker...

Good luck!!!

Thanks for your fast replies...both very helpful information. I actually looked at the CFO website that one of you had provided and I saw that the original visa is required for registration. My fiance hasnt received his visa yet, still waiting, but I was wondering, is the visa itself already included on the passport as a stamp? or is it a piece of paper? I know probably a stupid question but I am not sure. I was hoping maybe just a photocopy of the visa was ok. I have to call my fiance in the morning to now prepare the documents needed for the CFO.

Not a dumb question... many filipinos (my wife included) go to the seminar w/o the visa. If you have the visa they will stamp it right after the seminar has been completed. If you do not have the visa you will have to go back to the CFO location later to get the stamp (my wife did it this way). Basically I flew my wife into Manila a day before her trip to the USA to get the CFO stamp on her visa. I hope I didn't confuse you!

I think they already answered your questions except the ones I highlighted above.

Yes, your fiancee needs to pay it. It cost Php250 for the seminar and Php400 for the visa stamp/sticker. You don't need to have an appointment in going there as they are in walk-in basis. Just check out their US Seminar Schedules in their website for you to know on what time your fiancee can go to whether in SMEF or PRISM.
