and my fiance can not be at my interview because of his work.

I've said this before in other posts....what are your priorities? I understand people need their jobs, but we are talking about your job verse your spouse (who you hope to spend the rest of life with). I don't get it.

One of the leading causes of divorce is money.... No Job = No money.. Not saying this is the case in my situation or yours but it's a statistic that could affect many people on here.

I've been to the consulate in HCMC before. You stand in a line along a rope to get inside. They let people in through the door only as fast as the security checkpoint can process them. While you're waiting in line, a guard walks up and down the line checking documents and asking each person what they are there for. If you tell them you're there for the visa unit then they'll ask to see your appointment letter. I saw two people instructed to leave the consulate grounds because they didn't have the letter.

I was there to get some documents notarized at US Citizens Services. The guard asked to see my passport and the documents I wanted to get notarized. My fiancee was with me, and the guard was ready to ask her to leave the consulate grounds until I showed her that one of the documents I wanted to get notarized had to be signed by my fiancee.

Once we got through security, we passed through a second set of doors into a hallway. Down the hall to the right was the visa unit, and standing in the doorway was another guard checking papers. We went straight ahead to the US Citizens Services.

Yes, they'll let a US citizen walk in if they have business at the consulate, but I don't think a US citizen will be able to get into the visa unit unless they're specifically asked to come in.

I have also been to the US consulate in HCM several times. I went there and was allowed to talk to them about my case. I went there a total of 4 times and all times I was allowed to go the the immigration area to the right. USC are allowed to talk to CO during certain times:

http://hochiminh.usconsulate.gov/contact/consular.html

From the website:

From 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, a Consular Section staff member is available to answer questions concerning the status of immigrant visa cases. Petitioners may submit documents for cases not closed administratively by the Consulate but reviews will take place later. Applicants will not be re-interviewed and cases closed administratively by the Consulate will not be re-opened or reviewed during this time.

I used this time 3 times and was able to inquire about my case. From what I've seen other USC entered and talked to the CO, They let you submit additional evidence if you get the blue paper, whitepaper or explain your case to a co and they let you clear things up. The most recent time I went there I went at 1:00pm M-F and was able to get my wife's appointment letter and my wife waited outside while I talked to them and got the appointment letter earlier than expected for her medical. I think it's quite easy for a USC to enter the consulate. I have never been denied to go in there. On the day of my wife's interview it might be different but I think if I wanted to, I could get it.

Thanks. I'm glad someone posted who has actually done this. ;)

I don't know if the time of day has anything to do with it, nor if I could have actually gotten into the visa section if I'd tried. I didn't try, and got the impression that I would have been stopped. To her credit, the lady guard was very friendly and courteous - much less intimidating than the VN guard carrying the semi-automatic rifle who paces up and down the sidewalk.

I don't recall the exact time we were there, but it was late on a Tuesday morning. There were still a lot of people waiting along the wall across the street. There were only about half a dozen people in the line at that point. Nobody approached us or said anything to us as we crossed the street and walked to the information window. After getting instructions from the lady at the information window, we got in line and notice the guard talking to someone ahead of us. A moment later she was talking to the couple in front of us, and asked what they were there for. The man said they were going to the visa section to get some information. The guard asked if they had an appointment letter, and they said no. The guard told them they wouldn't be able to go to the visa section without an appointment letter, and said if they didn't have any other business at the consulate then they should leave. They left. Perhaps it was because they were still conducting visa interviews at the time. I don't know.

The guard asked me what was my business at the consulate, and I said I was going to USC Services to get some documents notarized. Then she looked at my fiancee and asked if she had an interview letter. I think she presumed my fiancee was going to the visa section. My fiancee said no, but before the guard could respond I told her that my fiancee was going with me to USC Services, and I showed her the document my fiancee needed to sign. The guard just nodded and said ok.

After leaving my cell phone and camera at the security checkpoint, we went through the second door into the hallway. I saw the sign pointing to the right - don't remember if it said "visa" or "immigration" or what, but I pointed down the hallway and told my fiancee that's where she would be going whenever she came back for her interview. That's when I saw the other guard at the end of hall looking over someone else's documents. We went through the glass doors on the other side of the hallway, and across the courtyard to the USC Services section.

This was all a little over a month ago.

I understand what you are saying, but HELLO??? no job=no visa?? I do love my fiancee, but with no job, you have no money, and our plans are simple. I have requested time off so that I can go back the end of June and stay until July, only for one week. It is not the money of the trip, because I want to see her. If they deny the visa, then I will go back in December and we will get married there then come home and file for the K3, and if they deny that then I say the heck with USA I will move to HCMC. I really do not understand people posting some things on this site. I am sure that most men would choose their fiancee over a job any day of the week, but that is also shooting yourself in the foot. Have you got out and looked for a job lately???? The market really sucks, and right now my job pays me well over the minimum amount required to sponser my fiancee to some here without a co signer. I truly do appreciate your post, but to me it seems as if you are trying to chop people down with your replys, not all of them but some. If I did not love and worry about my fiancee I would not be on this site, if I did not love my fiancee I would not file for a k1 visa, so for someone to act like I do not love her more than my job really offends me.
