Firstly – thank you to everyone on this site and others whose advice we have relied on throughout our application for an immigrant visa through the London embassy.

I have a job lined up in the states and I couldn't find confirmation that it is OK to have that done before you have a visa. Nervous about mentioning it to the embassy in case an obscure rule said that you shouldn't look for work before having a visa.

We checked with a friend who worked for the US government and he said that it was OK to mention. We definitely felt that the fact we would have health insurance, etc, from day one reassured the officer during the interview. “Did we have jobs lined up” was the first and only question he asked in the interview.
