So where is everyone from?

Originally born in Montreal, then moved to Canada ( Ontario) to get away from politics. After 10 years there dumped my ex, met my fiance, and am back in Montreal at my family's waiting for my Visa.

lol i'm not the separatist ..however hearing about that stuff most of my life made me fed up and move out of Quebec. of course now that i have forgotten how to speak french..it's even worse being back..and of course ppl think i'm stupid..

You're not alone. After the PQ was elected and imposed Bill 101, there was a huge exodus of Anglophone Quebecers from Montreal and the Eastern Townships. Most headed down the 401 to Ontario. Some went to western Canada or the US. Bill 101 has had a lasting (to my mind negative) effect of impoverishing Quebec of its diverse bilingual culture and transforming it into a much more monochromatic unilingual and unicultural society. Quite a shame I feel.

Kimbear - I grew up in Pierrefonds! Hillcrest Gardens up from Gouin Blvd off of St. Charles Blvd. We were just south of Il Bizard. Dad used to take the train from Beaconsfield into Downtown Montreal every day. It was a great neighbourhood although the forest behind us and the fields down the road from us have all been built on now. I guess I wouldn't recognize it anymore.

Close to where I grew up, Kirkland! Timberlea, to be exact. My Dad still lives in Beaconsfield, so I visit often.

Born and raised on Vancouver Island, B.C. Spent 5 years in Victoria during the 80's. I LOVE Victoria. So pretty. Other than my family here, I'm really going to miss the surrounding mountains and of course the ocean. Tim lives 100 miles inland so the coast is a couple hours away. Here, all I have to do is look walk 20 min, or look out the windows at work to see water!! I love the island....it's like leaving my best friend... But I'll have a good and new life in SC....
