Hmm for some reason, the poll won't work for me. Anyhoo, grew up in Kirkland, QC then moved to Oakville, ON at age 15! Been living there up until last Nov, when I moved here!

I was born in Patchogue NY USA (Long Island), to Canadian parents who registered me as Canadian born abroad. I am also a US citizen by virtue of birth in the US.

Right after birth my parents spent a year in Denmark and then a year in Israel before returning to Canada and settling in Ottawa (they were originally from Montreal).

I grew up in Ottawa, went to school there, attended Hillcrest High School and Carleton University. Lived in Ottawa for over 20 years.

I then went to Israel to do my grad studies (MSc at the Technion), and returned to Canada. Lived in the Toronto area (Etobicoke, then Mississauga) for about 6 years.

Then moved around again - back to Israel for 2 years, then California for 5, then Israel for 5, and now I live in Chicago.

So in Canada, I'm "from" Ontario (Ottawa and Toronto).

Along the way I picked up Israeli citizenship as well so I am a citizen of Canada/US/Israel and have lived extensively in all three countries.

I've lived most of my life in Canada, my parents live there, I went to school there and to a large extent still identify myself as Canadian.

I usually cringe when people casually ask me "where are you from?". I don't really know how to answer that question anymore.

(for those failing the poll... make sure to select a radio button for all 3 sections! You must reply "not from" on Western Canada, Eastern Canada, or Territories on all three sections)

You might be getting an error if you don't chose something in each category - these polls force you to choose something for each question - so you have to choose the 'I am not from eastern Canada' or whatever option for each as well

I am from Calgary....yahoo!
