Jillian was my favorite in the Bachelor last season. Not because of her nationality, but because she just rocked and how my wife and I enjoyed laughing at her accent. I have it taped though so will watch it this week sometime...

Me too, I love her! I laughed because she did say EH a few times, and I noticed abOOT

Hah! we were lauughing about her accent too! When my husband and I first started dating, we would watch Battlestar Galactica together, and my husband kept going on and on about Colonel Tye's canadian accent, and I was always "what are you talking aboot??" And he'd laugh even more. But now I guess I've been away from Canada long enough that I can totally hear Jillian's accent! Makes me a little homesick!

Although all the shots of my hometown Vancouver with the the low-hanging rain clouds and grey perma-drizzle cured me pretty quick!

She just has a strong accent for certain words, and yeah especially the aboot which is probably one of the strongest I've heard on tv to date...

I'm just a wanderer in the desert winds...

I love Jillian, she reminds me so much of my best friend - who also has had many man issues in the past.

I'm disappointed that there are no Canadian men though - what's with that?

Me too, I thought there would be at least a few Canucks, I mean there was even a Brit! Which, by the way, why did the producers feel the need to put subtitles when the Brit spoke? Ummm he was speaking English!

Well, we are all assuming she'll move to the US... maybe the chosen one will move to Canada!!!! That would be cool!

From my experience (as an American citizen), very few in the U.S. can actually understand a Brit when he's speaking. The way the language is spoken is so different that it appears as a completely foreign language.

In a few cases, I've been able to understand the British. Monty Python comes to mind. Most of the time I'll need closed captioning or they'll sound incomprehensible.

My wife doesn't have a problem understanding Brits, but she lived in England for a few years. I'm sure that helped.

I dunno, I understand them perfectly fine. Maybe it's an American thing :P

Wow I am so surprised Rob&Mel haven't been in this thread yet to talk about how these shows will suck out your souls. :P

I must be a weirdo. I didn't notice her having much of an accent. I had to listen really carefully to pick it up. Then again just the other day my mom said I'm starting to talk like my husband (i'm the american). I don't notice his accent anymore either. I thought he was losing it, maybe I'm gaining it lol.

I don't have a problem understanding Brits either. I don't think I agree that it's an "American" thing to not understand them. Never heard that one before.

However, I also don't have much problem understanding eastern indian accents either. Probably from several years working with a doc from India.

3/5/11 sent LOC paperwork

3/9/11 date of NOA

?/?/?? biometrics appointment

The closed captioning at our house is always on. My husband (from Arkansas) cannot understand British people at all. At. All. For my part, I have a hard time understanding African-Americans on tv sometimes.
