So the Bachelorette premieres tonight with 25 American guys trying to win the heart of a Canadian woman. I wonder if the topic of what a genuine PITA it is to marry someone from another country is going to come up. For me it was a total accident to fall in love with an American. I love Canada and never would have chosen to leave but for the love of my life being a yankee. Why anyone would go about trying on purpose to fall in love with someone from another country is mystifying to me. The paperwork never ends!

And for two lonnnng years after you get married, your husband gets to joke about having USCIS on speeddial every time you get lippy around the house. Who would choose this??

Don't they get married at the end of the show?? Doesn't that mean immigrating with the intent to marry? :P

 I was just thinking the same thing! How are they going to go about the immigration process?

. . . and will this 'marriage' survive the immigration process!

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

 I was just thinking the same thing! How are they going to go about the immigration process?

Hey! I never thought about that! They showed her leaving her Vancouver apartment with her wheelie bag, and then the next shot she's walking around the streets of Los Angeles. How the heck could she have got past the CO when she would have to answer the question "What is the purpose of your visit? with " "To find a husband."

No, at the end they get engaged! Only one of the bachelors has sucessfully been married, so she likely won't get married! It will be more difficult, of course to move in together and see how things work, like most past bachelor/ettes....

LOL I'm sure she had a visa of some sort, ABC got her a work visa perhaps? After all, she is being paid to be on the show, so isn't that considered work? (I know she's being paid as read an article in EW about reality show stars and pay). So did she get an SSN? So many questions haha

I must say though I was really dissapointed there were no Canadian men to choose from... all Americans and one British

If she doesn't, she's a fraud!!!

The Bachelor was the first of it's kind when it came out years ago because it was the only reality show out there where you could meet someone and say you were in love with them in less than 3 weeks! Of course, since then, many other reality shows have followed suit. These bachelor/bachelorette shows are hilarious for so many reasons...some of which being that almost all the contestants are gorgeous or incredibly handsome and have established careers. Some of them even are wealthy. So, it makes me wonder....there must be something in their personalities that just isn't very attractive.

"...My hair's mostly wind,

My eyes filled with grit

My skin's white then brown

My lips chapped and split

I've lain on the prairie and heard grasses sigh

I've stared at the vast open bowl of the sky

I've seen all the castles and faces in clouds

My home is the prairie and for that I am proud…

If You're not from the Prairie, you can't know my soul

You don't know our blizzards; you've not fought our cold

You can't know my mind, nor ever my heart

Unless deep within you there's somehow a part…

A part of these things that I've said that I know,

The wind, sky and earth, the storms and the snow.

Best say that you have - and then we'll be one,

For we will have shared that same blazing sun." - David Bouchard

Your all making us Canadians look like a bunch of tv watchers.... oh one sec gotta change the channel my show is coming on .... ok what i was saying .. hahahaha ...

at the end of the show they will both get paid and then we'll never hear about them again except perhaps maybe a few tabloid stories so those sharks can make a few bucks on the 15 minutes of fame from them

Jillian was my favorite in the Bachelor last season. Not because of her nationality, but because she just rocked and how my wife and I enjoyed laughing at her accent. I have it taped though so will watch it this week sometime...
