Capt. Ewok, pls tell me if I got this right.

I will be filing my AOS hopefully by Monday (3 days from now) and I want to make sure I got the address right.

If I will send the AOS packet via USPS, then the correct address is:

US Citizenship and Immigration Services

P.O. Box 805887

Chicago, IL 60680-4120

However, if I send it via Fed Ex, then the address should be:

US Citizenship and Immigration Services

Attn: FBASI

427 S. LaSalle- 3rd Floor

Chicago, IL 60605-1098

What happens if I send the packet via private courier like Fed Ex to the P.O Box above and not to LaSalle address? Will they reject my packet? Which is the better choice USPS or Fed Ex and other private couriers? Why the different address?

Thank you so much.

Can't answer the Fed ex part of the question, but I will say that I believe most people here on VJ sent their packages via USPS and had no problems. We sent ours certified/registered mail and it was delivered in 2 days. We registered it so we could track it online and knew the exact time it arrived and who signed for it.

Most people here go through the immigration/aos process without a lawyer, and most of us suceed, so you're in good company.

Good luck!

FEDEX will not deliver to P.O. Boxes. Therefore, you have to send it to the LaSalle address.

You can't FedEx to a PO Box as others have said. I FedEx'd my packet to the LaSalle address and everything went fine, got my NOA1 7 days after I FedEx'd it.

Only a minor detail, but should also include "return receipt" as part of sending the package "registered". That way you get a card back in the mail letting you know for sure it was received.

I sent my AOS package in using USPS certified mail so we could track it online. I tracked it the day after we sent it in and it told us that the package is delievered...to us, and that they left a notice for us cuz we weren't there when they delivered it. USPS messed it up and sent it to the sender instead of the recipient  . Finally got it back and they fixed it, after a 4 days delay and multiple trips to the post office to find our package and pick it up.

They did send it to the correct recipient this time, and we have our NOA1 a week after that
