Hello everyone! It's been a while since I posted a topic and I am now back to seek some advices.

I left some of my clothes in my PI coz I thought I won't need them because of the different weather conditions here in the US.

Now that it's spring and close to summer, I am wondering if I would see any problem sending some of my clothes here.

My bestfriend in PI said that she asked LBC if there's any problem that we might consider if I decide to send some of my clothes here.

They said that it is impossible to send clothes to the US coz it would be hindered by the US Customs. Is this true?

Had anybody tried shipping some of their clothes to the US and received them?

If yes, can you suggest any courier service?

Hope to hear some replies from all of you..

I think it would be wiser for you to just buy new clothes out from the money you will be using for shipping......Trust me the shipping companies might dig your pocket deeper for the shippinig fees.

I left a box of personal stuff in the Phils. and ready to be send here. I dont see any problem in sending it here. I also inquired some couriers and its too expensive. DHL would cost PhP 20K for 50 lbs for 2-3 days, UPS is a little bit higher. Well it would not cost you that much if your clothes will not weigh 50 lbs. I found the Johnny Air Cargo for $237 for 70 lbs but it will take 45 days. It dont matter as long as it will get here and it will not cost me a lot. Make some inquiries and make sure you have the right weight so you'll get the exact charges.

Shipping via LBC would probably not be worth it. If you want to ship, use regular parcel post at a post office and use the slowest option (via boat/sea). I have shipped clothing from a number of countries this way with no problems. On the customs forms note them as personal belongings/clothes or something like that. And be aware that it will not be super cheap. If it is a larger/heavier box it could be $80, $100 or more.

Hi... I inquired at FEDEX... they gave me a rough estimates for the box I am going to send in US... 4-5 days...

I am going to send a box 24"x21"x11".... with 10 Kg..... It cost like 170usd..

What included in the box are....

my wedding gown and shoes, fiance's barong and pants, wedding souvenirs, wedding invitations, some jeans, several pair of shoes, and some bags, and some of my working clothes, some books, and some scrapbooking materials...

I have to tell them what I will send because the cost depends on what I will send...

I wanted to send also my big laptop (I'm too sentimental to leave it)... but I was told that it will cost me almost 400usd because of making it safe (they will use their own special packaging materials)... then I might pay tax when it get there in US because any electronics gadgets are subject to tax... So I'll just bring it with me.

Then its probably cost very less... it is worth it most especially the clothes you have there have sentimental value to you.

I'm definitely not doing it again once this gets shipped. All of the rates are freaking expensive.

If it wasn't really important and sentimental, I wouldn't bother having it.

Thanks for all the replies! I appreciate it! :)

When I came to Texas (2005) I only brought 2 suitcases and my hand carry bag. Didn't have any excess on my luggage :star: (coz it's too expensive from Hong Kong). I only brought my very favorites ones like expensive summer/winter clothes, shoes, purses/hand bags, photos, important documents and other special things that I can't live without!

Then when I got over with my jetlag my hubby and I went shopping for everything that I need. It's wiser to buy some things here rather than bringing everything here.:thumbs:

Hope you'll find a cheaper courier services.:thumbs:
