If you have any originals submitted, you should get it back during the interview.

That's why NVC/Embassy asked for original AND a copy.

At POE, you will submit the passport, immigration visa (stapled with Misterious Brown Envelope, also known as MBE), MBE and X-ray envelope.

Then POE officer will give the passport with I-551 stamp back to you.

Everything else - Immigration Visa, MBE, etc - will forward to your local USCIS district office for final processing to order "plastic" Resident Alien Card, which is called "Green Card".

Sometimes USCIS ICE employee at POE may take your X-Ray film envelope, but in most case, they will give it back - for souvenir.

So if you want to keep the copy of your Immigration Visa, you may want to make the copy before getting into the plane to U.S.

Also you are NOT allowed to open MBE, and you should carry MBE with you as carry-in.

MBE contains your paperwork including consular officer's review paperwork, and all copies of your documentations submitted.

Only POE officers are allowed to open MBE and after verification, they will forward it to USCIS local district office, which has jurisdiction for your case.
