Hi,

We filled out a form to our US Senator due to the delay on the I-751 which is now at 11 months instead of the 6 months it normally takes in California. Has anyone gotten any help from the US Senators or is just a waste of time?

thanks,

I had a similar situation - 11 months instead of 6 for approval of a fiancee visa. Someone told me to contact my US Representative and once I did, not a week passed before I got my approval. It turns out my particular Representative is fantastic and very responsive to constituents and has a couple staffers who work on immigration issues; I am not sure a Senator would be as effective. I talked to one staffer for a Senator who said that when they got these kind of requests they would send an email to CIS but not really follow up. In other words, I'd start with your US Representative and after a week or so, contact the senators. Good luck!

Hi chila,

Not necessarily. If you contacted them via phone, sent them authorization forms to look into case and talked to their Immigration Expert or liason, then chances are you will get approved soon. If this didn't happen, then get appointment take to the senator and their immigration expert ask them to help you as your case is out of processing time.

If the senator doesn't work, try congressman. I have seen recently on VJ that contacting them has approved 3-5 people here.

Don't give up.

Wish you Good Luck.

I had great successes with both my EAD application and my son's I-485 application. We used the US Rep for the EAD and a Senator for the green card. Both were approved within a few days of contact.

Have you tried the service phone number yet?

I called them after waiting for 8 months, the nice lady put in an inquiry on my behalf and the petition was approved about a week after that.

Might be easier and just as effective if your paperwork is just gathering dust or slipped behind somebody's desk....

Conditional Permanent Resident since September 20, 2006

Conditions removed February 23, 2009

I am extraordinarily patient,

provided I get my own way in the end!

I agree with above try calling USCIS to ask what is happening. I called them up and they usually ask the center to send a reply back. I received the reply in about a week, even though the reply was basically junk.

Also you can try and contact the DOH Ombudsman. Havent tried that but it might still be worth it.
