Hello guys, I read from somebody's reply on the other site that you need to bring your GC to SS Office if you are going to check for your SSN#. Is that true? What other documents should I bring in there?

No.

All I brought was my passport with the temporary I-551. I had no other docs such as roof of address. They to a photo copies of my visa, entered whatever info I told them on the computer. That was it. Of course the address I gave them matched what immigration had on file. I got a confirmation letter, quoting my new SNN from my local SSA in TN a couple of days before I got the actual card.

Oh I still don't have my I-551 too, even temporary I-551 I don't have it yet. What I have in here is passport and Visa only.

My picture profile is what I have in my passport. It is an immigrant CR1 visa. However in small letters it says it serves as temp I-551. Does yours not say that? What type of visa do you have?
