Question: AP document at POE

My husband returned to the US last night from visiting his home country. Because our AOS is pending ( a second interview will be next month ), he used his AP document at POE. He said everything went smoothly, he got his I-94 and his AP stamped. However, they gave him back BOTH documents. I was under the impression they keep one and hand you back the other one. Is this normal? They only stamped the one document.

I also heard the officer is supposed to keep 1 copy and give you back the stamped copy, but when I used my AP last month they also gave me back both copies, 1 stamped. I even asked him if he is to keep a copy, he said no, I just made a photocopy.... I don't think it makes a difference really.

Thank you. I called Immigration POE here and asked an officer. He said the same thing, that probably the AP document was photo copied, and as long as the one was stamped, we're good to go.
