Maria and I were one of those unfortunate souls who ended up in Wendy and Gregor's Six Months and Waiting thread, and today I sadly searched for and found this NVC thread. When my ten month nightmare with USCIS Vermont finally ended, we were both elated. Now we find ourselves simply mired in a new Torture Chamber called the NVC. When I first found the Six Months and Waiting thread I read through every single post from its beginning and learned a large amount. Would some of you stuck here with me please save me the trouble of reading all 116 pages of this thread and basically summarize what we know about this mess.

How long does this usually go on for those of us who end up here. Most of us in the Six Month Waiting thread seemed to get approved within a month of joining, so in other words about seven months. Mine went ten months. Most Timelines I've read on Visa Journey get through NVC in a few days, with two weeks being a long time. Here I am now almost two months later.

Another VJ member suggested to me a month ago that I could get her medical exam done and the interview scheduled, even though the NVC still had the I 129. Is this true? I have the MNL number from the notice from USCIS. Can I use that to schedule her interview with the Manila Embassy, while waiting for NVC to finish my processing? I thought I couldnt get her interview scheduled until the paperwork left the NVC and arrived in the US Embassy in Manila.

Thanks in advance for whatever info any of you pass on to us.

Carl

I can understand not wanting to read through the whole stuck in AP thread there is a lot of useful info in there though and you may find the answer to your interview question, sorry you have had to suffer this after such a long wait for your NOA2.

I don't know about scheduling the interview with your particular embassy whilst still at NVC but I certainly had my medical done whist I was waiting as its valid for up to a year.

Maximum waiting time that we can establish amongst vj'ers is 52 days at NVC though recently people have been being released around the 6 week mark.

Best of luck for getting out soon
