Salamualaikum / Peace to everyone,

I would like to bring my mother-in-law to the US for a visit. She would be coming from Egypt. Can those whom have succesfully brought their mother-in-law's or other family members share your process with me? She has never really been anywhere except Egypt and Saudi Arabi. She is afraid to fly and doesnt speak much english. We would like her to come visit us here because it would be too expensive for us to fly to Egypt every year.We arent in any rush, but we are curious to what the process is and how much it will cost.

I am looking forward to hearing your expierences and any suggestions you may have.

We want to start the same process to bring my mom here for my baby's delivery insha Allah.

1- Call the American embassy in Cairo and schedial an interview date and they will give you one around 4 weeks after the phone call -she can ask for the interview to be in arabic.

2- Then she should go to the CIB bank and buy an application. Tell her to give her full name on the recite the exact same way it's written in the passport. The application costs around $15O or a little less. You can fill out online for her on the embassy's website.

3- Send her proof that the USC has a job; copies of both your passports and finally some photos of your family.

4- She will take all that paper work and photosand make it to the interview on the date.

I hope this helps insha Allah....

Hey Annie if you're around...If you think I missed something plz add it :star:

I was going to suggest messaging Nawal which is Annie. Her MIL came for an extended visit and left a few months ago. She can tell you step by step what to do. Best wishes!!

Thanks for letting us know. I'll have to ask her if this applies to SIL also. Again, thanks.

This is perfect HLM and exactly what we did! My MIL was approved for a 5 year visa...thank god! I think the part about her not speaking much english and traveling alone is hard. But, she had a phone with her in London and we spoke with the airline when she arrived each destination to help her out.

If you'd like (I sent you a PM) she can contact my MIL and speak with her, plus if she needs help processing things there...my MIL or SIL would help out in a flash. Good luck!! (F)

Depending on the age of your SIL it could be MUCH more difficult. If she's young, and single... it could be VERY difficult... If the SIL can't show that she has ties to Egypt that will insure that she returns (husband, kids, etc.) they will assume she is really trying to Immigrate and it won't be easy for her to visit... :(

Very true. My SIL is married with a child and so it was easy to show ties back to Egypt.
