Please do not type in CAPS.

If I understand correctly, your husband's middle name is "Jamil" but you mistakenly filled out all of his forms with "Jameel". You should write a short letter explaining what you did and pointing out that his passport and birth certificate consistently show "Jamil", have it notarized. Redo ALL of the forms with his name spelled correctly. Make 2 copies of all of this. Keep 1 copy for yourself, and send the others to your hubby (one for him to keep and one to submit at his interview). Since his interview is soon, send it FedEX or whatever will ensure he receives it in time.

I had a friend who has had a lot of problems due to a misspelled name. I think acknowledging it outright, BEFORE a CO mentions it is key, and should prevent any allegations of misrepresentation. Keep in mind, there still might be problems, after all you should know how to spell your husbands name. Mistakes happen, but its up to the CO conducting the interview as to whether or not they want to make this a big issue.

Best of luck!

I would write an e-mail to the embassy explaining the situation. My husband and I went to india but he had a misspelling on the passport so he got a new one and the visa wasn't in the new passport, to avoid misrepresentation and problems such as the consulate finding out about my the passport is so new and asking how come our pics look like they are from out of country but no visa etc, I wrote a very short letter to the embassy and we sent it with the packet 4 and also e-mailed. Also, make sure you husband addresses this issue clearly with the consulate during interview to avoid any problems.

God bless,

Tam
