B1 while K1 is pending

Hello all, I'm new to the site.

I sent in the I-129f to the CSC a few days ago. My fiancee is a dentist in her home country and needs to take the American Dental

Board exams. To take these exams she needs a B1 visa. So would it be possible for her to apply for a B1 visa while the K1 visa is pending?

Our intent is not to get her here on a B1 and get married while she's here on that visa. But she really needs to take these exams so that

she can apply to dental programs here within the year.

So, are you allowed to apply for 2 visas at one time? And would applying for the B1 cause any problems for her K1? Should we just wait until

the K1 is approved even if that means that she'll have to wait another year to get into a Dental program here?

Anyways, thank you in advance for any replies. :)

10/08/09 - NOA2 Approved

If you marry on the B1 - then you just cancelled your K-1. She has to be a fiancee for the K-1.

You would have to do another visa - like the CR-1.

Yes, you can apply for the B-1 one - however, with the K-1 in process, they may not allow you the B-1.

Waiting for the K-1 is a viable choice.

My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.

getting any kind of visa from pakistan other than education, marraige or fiance visa is so so hard, if she gets it she will be lucky.

they can make the argument that she can take the test after she is here and married.

but i will pray for u two and hope that Allah finds the way.
