Hey everyone! im moving to the states in to more day after more than 7 months of stuf for get the k-1 visa =)

I have a question

When I arrive in Atlanta and go to the green room (for questioning about my K-1 Fiance Visa), do I need to be with my luggage this whole time? After the green room, what do I have to do? Do workers in customs or afterwards check my suitcases, or do I have to check my suitcases in a particular part? Do I have to pass through customs again (after the green room), and at what point would that be?

Thank you for your feedback

You will transit passport control... if you are sent to secondary they may have you claim your luggage or they may not... If they do you go get it and sit with your bags until you are clear... if not when yo are clear then you get the luggage... As you leave the arrival area you will go through the customs area.... If you are transferring to a Delta/NWA flight you can re-check your bags right after customs as they have a transfer desk right there. If you are transferring to a different airline you need to find there ticket counter and check your bags.

YMMV

Your baggage will go to the baggage claim area. You will go to passport control. Whether or not you go to any other "room" I do not know. My wife just went through passport control like everyone else. She entered at JFK and maybe it is slightly different at Atlanta. At any rate, there is no particularly complicated process to enter with a K-1 visa.

You will then take your bags and go through customs, which may or may not be anything but walking right out. They may want to inspect your baggage, maybe not. They did not for my wife. I have never had my bags inspected despite many dozens of international trips arriving at many POEs, including Atlanta. If you go on from there, to another US destination, you will check your bags in again and that is it. No more customs or passport control within the US. Just to be complete, the DHS reserves the right to inspect your bags anywhere in the public transportation system, but it is rare for domestic flights and there is no "system" for it.

At Atlanta, you will go through customs before you reach the luggage collection area. My suitcases have never been searched here. Probably because there is never anything illicit in them. What is this "green room" that you speak of? When I arrived at Atlanta (albeit nearly 2 years ago already!) I had to go to a separate area with my sealed envelope that I was given in SA. There an officer took the envelope then came back, stamped my passport and sent me on my way. I then collected my luggage and met DH ~ finally! Golly, what a stress factor that all was.

Take a breath, you will be fine :star:
