My Fiancee will enter June 19 on her K1 Visa...so excited can't wait as we just finished the interview in Bogota...Now for my questions...(believe me I have read this forum hundreds of times, and still am not sure of what is the best way to proceed.) Firstly, The SS# seems easy and the first thing we should do..we are most likely going to marry about 45 days after her arrival, we have not set date yet... So for my next questions...Apply for the AOS???Now heres the next part...We wanted to travel back to Colombia for a wedding ceremony for her familiy maybe in December 2009..I am not sure of how long of a wait we have on the Adjustment...How can she travel?? Is there a form (maybe I 751)..I have just read so much...I see the processing times are about 130 or so days on the AOS, which w0uld be in November, but I would just like some clear answers to next steps...I have used the guides, and am still a little unsure..Help from someone would be greatly appreciated..

It is the I-131 Advance Parole

I-751 is removing conditions on the greencard (filed when you need to replace the 2 yr card)

YMMV

When she applies to adjust status she can submit a I-131 [free] for advanced patrol [AP] to travel and use it until she gets her GC. AP submissions normally are approved in a short time.

Yo Steve: Once she is here for about 2 weeks - you can go to the SS office and apply for the SSN - (you need to let 2 weeks pass to allow the system to process her - otherwise SS may tell you to come back later to apply). In any case, she wil get her SS card in about 3 or 4 weeks after that. When you get married - you will apply for AOS (greencard) and with the same you can apply for EAD (employment authorization) and AP (Advanced Parole for travel) - the AP allows her to get back in USA while her greencard is being processed - keep in mind though - you do not want to be gone for long - If you miss your AOS interview - its hard to get it rescheduled - so keep that in mind. Also search for 'Colombia club' on this site and you can read the posts in there, Also you can join PoorButHappy.com and look at the Colombia forum (Visa section). The fees for the AOS, AP, EAD is all in one - you have to pay the fees whether or not you apply for the EAD and AP so better to apply for everything. Also, after getting EAD or Greencard - you can go to SS office and change her name (if she wants to) and get a new SS card without the DHL authorization wording on it. Good Luck
