Who's going to China this June/July/August?

What are the airline prices looking like?

What are the best routes?

Have the Visa things changed from last year?

Which month is the best to go?

Where are you going and any other details?

I am thinking to travel in July/August for a month. Last April I got a RT Delta ticket from Atlanta to Shanghai for $700. Then I flew China Eastern to my fiancee's city for $100. I'll have to renew my Visa this year.

We should have our interview in July or August, and I'm planning to go to Guangzhou with my fiancee.

It depends on where in China you are going. I usually fly United's direct flight from DC to Beijing, then a short flight from there on Air China to Shenyang. But, United really burned me when I had to change my return flight, so I'm going to try to avoid using them again.

Get your fiancee to book your flights within China. They can be found cheaper on Chinese websites.

Yeah, July and August are more expensive times to go to China. That's when everyone around the world has vacation times with their kids.

Last year I booked my within-China flights myself online with http://english.ctrip.com/ before I left the USA, same price as she can get in China. They are very good. The SO helped me get everything else cheaper when I was there, hotel etc. ... of course, she is a master at getting things cheap!

I have checked everywhere online so far but July/Aug are too far away to get the cheap tickets yet. I was lucky last year when Delta had the special fares. Has anyone heard of any specials coming this summer? One would think that China would want to keep the tourism going after the Olympics last year.

I hope RT prices come down because all I could find now, leaving late July and returning mid August (about 30 days) were tickets in the $1K range. OUCH!!! On top of that would be another flight in China plus return.

I am heading to Guangzhou on May 28 to be with my fiancee who has her interview on June 2. I am flying into Hong Kong from Atlanta and paid about $940 roundtrip. I will be arriving late at night so I will spend that night in Hong Kong and then get on the first KCR train out of Kowloon to GUZ the next morning - the train costs about $25 and takes a little less than 2 hours.

I really will not be doing to much on this trip outside of interview business. I will fly back to Xiamen (her hometown) with her for a couple of days after she receives her visa (if she gets approved) or we will get married during that time if her visa is denied.

Good man to be with his woman at the interview.

I see it is costing you in the $1K range too. You have in-China flights too.

Off-topic, why get married instead of contesting the denial? Of course I hope you both are approved!

Yea, I always use ctrip for my inter-China flights as well - I always get a good deal there.

Unfortunately if you get denied you almost never get the chance to contest it. You can not contest a denial with the Consulate and most of the time when GUZ sends back the denials to USCIS the petitions have already expired (good for only 4 months) or USCIS will let them expire before they review them. If on the slight chance that USCIS does review them it will be many many months (if ever) that they do - so for me I would just rather get married and start a CR-1 petition.

Not seen anything cheaper yet.

If you have a denial for a K1, how do you know you will not get a denial for a CR1, they will pick up the K1 denial when processing the CR1, It may best to wait, make some waves(request a FOIA on the interview) so that USCIS sends you a chance to respond to the K1 denial.

Time goes by..

My fiancee told me not to use Ctrip, because they're too expensive! She uses www.qunar.com (Chinese only) to search many different Chinese sites for cheaper tickets. I almost got a flight from Shenyang to Beijing for 230 RMB ($34), but I waited too late to buy. The flight usually costs around 500 - 700 RMB ($74 - $103) on Ctrip, and is over $200 on US sites.

We just sent back pack 3 yesterday the 18th may my best guess is that we will get interview mid July.

the cheapest air tickets I have found are with SINGAPORE AIRLINES Hong Kong to San Francisco $518.84 and they are the same price all year not going up and down like all other airlines don't fly to Los angles it cost more from sfo to Tulsa $149.20 American Airlines.Total HKG to TUL $668.04 EACH.

this way I will have to book 2 different tickets and it is saving me about $1500.00 going this way for the 3 of us.

After you reach USA you can fly about any where for about $150.00. JUST BE CAREFUL WITH YOUR CONNECTION TIMMING IN SFO.
