Has anyone ever had their application expedited for medical reasons or know of someone who has? If so, can you give me a summary of the medical condition, how the expedite request was made, whether it was approved, and, if so, how quickly the visa was issued?

Our interview was expedited for medical reasons. I faxed a letter to the consulate and followed up with a call the next day. It had already been approved by the time I called and they gave me the date for an interview. I (the USC) had the medical condition. I was about to have medical procedures that would require some recovery time. I stated that Marlene's presence would allow her to provide care during the recovery. They were able to schedule an interview in less than 30 days from the request. Without the expedite, our interview would have been in January 2006. I made the request in late October and the interview was given mid November 2005.

I was told once you are in the NVC processing stage you can appeal to the embassy where the visa will be issued to start the medical processing on their end. I have suggested to my wife that she start this with e-mail to the embassy tomorrow. I will let you know what we find out. This was suggested by someone who did the same thing successfully on a China visa. Basically NVC is DOS and the embassy is DOS.
