AOS but just filed tax returns

Hi All:

I am about to file my Affidavit of Support document. However, I am late in filing my 2007 and 2008 tax return - they will be filed in the next few days. My W-2 is over $ 100,000 and I have large deposits at the bank as well. How soon can I get IRS transcripts from the electronic filing of the tax return ???

Is it a problem if I just submit the tax returns and W-2's without the transcripts ???

You can submit either a complete tax return (return + other forms/schedules + W2s) OR Transcripts. I think that transcripts are available some time this summer, but that goes with the assumption of filed on time, so I am not sure when yours will be.

Just your complete return + W2s will be sufficient.

You are dealing with Homeland Security, and I would be concerned that they will let the IRS know that you did not file your tax return. On top of that you say you have a large amount of funds in the bank? Does this send off a red flag to the IRS? I would think so, and I would get the taxes done ASAP.

Well - I have paid more then I owe and I extended the returns and corresponded with the IRS - so it is not a problem - but they will be filed next week.

Last I "heard" you'll have to wait about 6 weeks after you file your taxes to get tax transcripts so submit copies of your 1040s and W2s and 1099s [if applies] with the I-485.

Call IRS to see when you can get tax transcripts [800-829-1040]. Good to take to your interview if you should have one.
