or a goldfinch . . . although it is a bit early for them to have their bright summer yellows, still . . .

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

I think it's this one - goldfinch  . The bird was really yellow. I'll try to take a pic on the way back home - wasn't prepared yesterday.

Bunny and squirrel pics coming once I'm back from firm sponsored volunteering - Junior Achievement 2nd graders :star:

We live in Florida, land of gigantic bugs and some interesting animals (quite a few squirrels, lots of different birds and I did see a raccoon in the yard the other night).

These cranes used to show up on our street almost daily, haven't seen them for a few months though

My Aunt & Uncle used to spend the winter in Florida, and they used to get fish falling from the sky fairly often. The pellicans would drop them

hehehehe - a variation on raining cats and dogs! By the way - that looks like a red-shouldered Hawk - can't be sure without seeing the tail though.

Oh, how lovely! :o

I've been told that if you startle a vulture, they actually vomit up everything in their stomach to make it easier for them to get away faster...eww!

Beware of mosquitoes! They attacked my husband and me a few nights ago and it still itches like crazy. Now we use the anti-bug spray as a perfume.

I know what you mean about those nasty mosquitoes!!!!! I started working in the garden this morning and they bombarded me. Drenched myself in Deep Woods Off, but i was able to stay outside all day and no more bites!

This area is loaded with deer. Too many. lots of foxes too. As far as birds we get plenty of geese and ducks and all species of hawks as well as a good number of bald eagles. We even have the golden eagles as well. Of course all sorts of water birds and herons. We're located right on the atlantic migratory path. Turkeys are also very plentiful. A few miles away on assateque we have wild ponies and sika deer.

Bobcats. Here in NC, we came accross a black bear that had been hit by a car...how freaky when we know that we go camping regularly?!?

I'd be less afraid of black bears and more afraid of waking up with a snake in your sleeping bag! ;)

This morning we had two bunnies, one squirrel and a big bird outside our window. Kitties really liked it. We're getting squirrel's attention as he/she last night wanted to hang out with kitties but they could not come out as it was about to rain. Later on, three more squirrels joined the first one and the party started! I think the tree will lose all its branches and leaves soon how hard they play and chase each other

I've forgotten to mention the mole burrowing throughout our yards. And the holes that Kreacher dog has dug trying to get at said moles

It's rather dangerous to walk around our yard, I keep twisting my ankles :P

I stumbled upon a ribbon snake this morning quite literally. I was walking on the edge of the tiny strip of woods around our apartment complex and I accidentally kicked it. Oops. It was OK though, just a little startled.
