Hi,

I'm sorry if this is the wrong place for this question, I've never posted before! Our application left the NVC on April 24 and we have not received a packet 3 yet. Does it usually take this long? I called the NVC and they told me that there is no way to track the application though it seems like others have been able to do that. Is there any way to contact the embassy to ensure that they received the application (other than the extortionately expensive phone number)?

Thanks a lot for any help you can offer and if I should post this elsewhere instead please let me know!

If you have your case number from the NVC (will start LND2009...), you can call the Department of State to check on the status. It is a regular US number, so normal UK to US charges apply -- MUCH cheaper than the Embassy line, and has the same info. Number is 202-663-1225, press 1 then 0 and you will be put through to someone who might be able to help you.

I saw that after I posted (sorry I'm new here  ). Thank you! The NVC stuff was so fast that the packet 3 wait is freaking us out a bit...

If DoS tell you that your file has arrived in USEM London you can always pre-empt the pkt 3 and send a complete packet in before they send you the 'official' packet.

I did the above and speed up the interview date by a few weeks, and I never did receive the actual pkt3 that the Embassy sent out!

The consulate received our packet on May 6, and we still haven't heard anything either, although our window of wait time isn't nearly so long as yours. I called NVC tonight and they told me that they'd definitely sent the petition to London, but couldn't tell me anything beyond that. I imagine that the long wait times that people are reporting for receiving their visas after their interviews is somehow all tied up together with this mess-- there was a rumor that the embassy was having IT problems, so it may be one huge clusterfudge in the consulate right now.

However, Rob&Dawn: thanks so much for that tip. I'll have John get his full packet off ASAP, regardless of when Package 3 comes.

To the original poster, they won't send you much of a "packet". It'll be a letter telling you to get your information here

http://www.usembassy.org.uk/cons_new/visa/iv/iv_15.html

Notice the forms and info over in the small writing in the right column too. You can be getting all that done without waiting to hear from them if you haven't done so already.

Oddly enough, after posting my question last night Packet 3 arrived today! Thanks to everyone for the advice.
