Hello,

When submitting proof of a bonafide marriage (for th I-130) the guide states you can use affidavids from friends, family etc (who know of your ongoing relationship, and marriage). My question is : do these have to be notorized?? Or do they just write them up, sign them (and put in all their bio info)?

Thanks so much. This website has been awesome!

I had one letter from my mom here in the US and had it notorized. I had two letters from friends in Senegal and did not have them notorized.

I did mine as "Affidavit form" never had them notorized and it was fine. The big thing is proof of meeting in the 2 year timeline.... put some pics of the two of you as well as airline tickets and so on..

All I submitted as proof were 3 affidavits, I was approved no problem. My advice is DON'T overwhelm them with stuff and DO make your packet idiot proof.

We had 3 letters - one from my husband's family, and two from his best friends.

It worked out for us without notarization
