Hi Everyone,

I'm taking my 18 month old daughter to Nigeria for the very first time. I was wondering if anyone has any tips/advice for making it a comfortable trip for her. I've already gotten her the age appropriate vaccinations and will bring powdered milk with me. But I'm not sure if there is anything else I could be missing. Also any general advice about traveling with a toddler on long flights would be appreciated. Thanks so much!

They do have televisions to entertain for a duration. At that age the vibration of the plain tends to make them sleep like a rock. I traveled with my son at that age and he was out so hard he didn't wake up to me carrying him off the plain while gathering our carry-on. Nice people helped me with the stroller.

My son traveled with me. We had the best flight together. We both enjoyed it to the fullest. OH except for when the ran out of chicken and only had lamb.

Thanks for the response. You're actually giving me a bit of hope because I'm preparing for the worst with her on the plane. Thanks!

Hello Kiwib99, I remember you from 2005 when you were still doing your K1. It's so refreshing to see people from the past come and post again. My hubby and I have a son who is two months old. We will probably be traveling when he is about a year old so please come back and post as to how your experience with your daughter went and i hope it goes smoothly.

Hi kiwib99-

It was so good to see your post, after so long :) How have things been with you and your husband. I was suprised to see that you now have a 18 month old daughter. But I guess I shouldn't be considering I now have a 14 month old daughter and a 2 month old son :) Things have been good for us :star::)

We were planning on traveling last year with my daughter to Nigeria but ended up not going. But I have traveled lots with my daughter and she does really well. Now that she is getting older it is harder to have her sit for so long, she wants to be walking everywhere. I would suggest getting up and walking up and down the aisles, being sure you have lots of snacks and also toys. I hope you all have a great trip! By the way what did you do for your daughter for malaria prophylaxis? That was a concern I had when we were going to travel.
