When you arrive at Dulles Airport, you will first go through immigration where you will hand the officer your packet you mentioned. They will most likely show you to a separate room where they will open the packet and take the documents that they need. They may ask a few questions (who petitioned for you... where will you stay...) They will stamp your passport and that should be it. You pick up your luggage, pass through customs and head to your destination.

*Welcome Letter - This letter welcomes you to the United States (keep this letter and envelop)

*Permanent Resident Card - this will arrive within a few weeks. This is also called your Green Card although it's not green :-)

* Social Security Card - If you checked on your DS230 to have them send your information to the Social Security Office, you must wait 3-4 weeks to receive your SS card. If you didn't check this option or the 3-4 time frame has past, you can go to your local Social Security office to get your Social Security card processed. You will need your birth certificate, Passport, Permanent Residence Card. There is no fee for this and it takes about 5-14 days to receive. You need a SS Number in order to obtain a job.

* Driver's License - You will need to take a drug and alcohol seminar and receive a certificate for this. you need to take the written and road tests as well. You need two documents for proof of residence. You can use your welcome letter if you have the envelop and the letter. You may also use bank statements, utility bills, tax documents
