You can't get away with drooling and not letting us know what it is - I am guessing it's not that funny coffee the 'libruls' drink :)

It is banana flower, it's kind of pain in the a$$ to make this recipe, mainly the sorting out the small flowers and you have clean a part of those flowers out or else the whole recipe becomes bitter in taste.

end product with coconut flakes and some whole spices

Here is a video, you can see it is time consuming to clean the whole stuff. It is a bit sweet in taste, it doesn't have any banana flavour (people who don't know might assume that), it is juicy and coconut and whole spices (bay leaf, cardamoms and one cinnamon stick) and I use a bit of ginger sometimes.

This video shows using onion, but I don't use onion........I don't like using onion with everything.

I was pretty happy once I saw banana flower at the local chinese shop out here :)

Hmmmm, you guys talking about yerba mate, chimarrão ... very common in the south of Brazil, and also common where my family has a farm, in the north, Rondonia.

I like it, but I like the regular mate tea better, the one where the herb is roasted. It gives a very different taste to the tea, and it's consumed all over Brazil. And it's different as it's mostly consumed cold.

You can by Matte in grain, in tea bags, already brewed in cups, bottles, with lemon, etc.

I've yet to see mate here (in PR), of either variety, but in Brazil it's very affordable.

For the green type for the chimarrão, yerba mate beverage with the special straw or the roasted type?

Here's a site that sells the roasted kind (my favorite brand of it, btw). A box like that makes a lot of tea.

My grandparents aren't going to my cousin's graduation. Grandma has a craft show she's going to that weekend. Now Benny says he doesn't want to go to the graduation because he wanted to visit with them. Argh!

I don't like earthquakes. It's hard to describe the feeling of helplessness that they generate.

On a happier note, I was watching Apartment 12 when it happened, which is quite a good little film, though I have no idea now why I chose it. The joys of the Netflix queue :)

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .
