All the Hare Krishna food talk is giving me some idea about the Book Club meeting with Amby.

To Amby-- You think your friends should try something other than usual Indian food they might have tried in Indian restaurants or should we go with the usual stuff

To Randomizer-- You think Americans might digest something like -- lau chingdi, kochur shaag or Mocha kind of stuff or be safe with the usual butter chicken and malai kofta?

ummm...hmmmm...ok so my chef friend (Amy, on the book list email) and I are the only people in the group who have had Indian food. they will try anything!

Life is a ticket to the greatest show on earth.

I love fresh ginger, and lashings of ginger beer, hot stuff! Sounds very good Stevphen

I miss REAL Ginger beer. Not this horrid sweet wimpy stuff they have over here.

Health food stores carry the real stuff. :)

I think I will make some of the more authentic non-restaurant Bengali food just for you first and you can be the judge of how should we go about.

By bong you mean my nice cup of tea, right?

The THC levels in those leaves must be astronomical. Stop flaunting it.

True story, when I worked in the UK, I worked in a large office, over 100 people, open plan, etc. Anyway, I don't really care for Indian tea so much but I love Argentinian Mate. Now I don't know how much you know about UK offices but we have a twice daily 'tea' ritual where we take it in turns to brew a cuppa for the people in our section (there's biscuit action as well, but I digress). Of course it's most unseemly not to join the 'tea circle' but as I said, I don't really do Tetley (or PG Tips for that matter) so I took to bringing in a quantity of mate leaves in a glass jar so I could brew up. Well, needless to say, I got a lot of comments, of the 'bong' variety. Just to tease my collegues (and open plan onlookers) I got all the paraphenalia in just for fun. It caused quite a stir - the bosses was impressed :D

 I always get those too. I only took my mate to work once here in the US. It was a morning I had to come in at 6 am, and needed the extra boost. You should see the looks...specially since I'm in HR :P since I had the mate cup with metal straw and all, they thought it was some kind of pipe

Saludos,

Caro

You can't get away with drooling and not letting us know what it is - I am guessing it's not that funny coffee the 'libruls' drink :)

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .
