Let's make this part 11 then, shall we?

I added some new pics today. I went to a shrine which commemorates stillborn and miscarried children as well as aborted babies. I took a minute and sat down, read some more about this beautiful shrine that was built in 1615. It was also built in remembrance of 14,700 victims of a large fire in that part of town in 1772. People still put glasses of water in front of the statues (which represent the victims) to ease their pain when they were getting burnt. It was quite touching, I have to admit. And I am usually not so easy to move.

Julia's jolly Japan journey

Awesome photos, Julia! The Godzilla statue is a bit depressing. It's like he's been frozen and can no longer fight. :(

Thanks Steven :D

 The day I went to see Godzilla, I had met a fellow traveller at the fish market. We decided to look for this statue and were hoping for a life size one. Can you imagine our frowns when we saw the 2ft statue?

But I still think it's great they have a statue of a fictional monster that destroyed the city! That and the parasite museum were my highlights, and the shrines of course.

Thanks Booty. I am having an excellent time. Just getting proper food is hard, since no one understands. So I have been living off bad carbs from the 7 eleven. I feel 20 lbs heavier, since I never eat bad carbs.

Tomorrow is shopping time. Yay! Harajuku and Shibuya are shoppaholics heaven. Although I can't fit into any of the clothes due to being so tall and wide hipped/ big boobed, I will still buy a LeSportSac purse and lots of pretty accessories. So much cute stuff, it's amazing.

I must say, Tokyo as a tourist is not very expensive. Food and drinks are regular prices, just like at home or in the US. And all the sightseen stuff was for free. Plus the hotel was $90 a night and I have a nice spa-esque bathroom and a great room. Not 5 stars, but that was not what I was looking for really.

I saw some strollers for quadruplets at the daycar today and thought of you Booty! Thank God it's only two babies!

No freaking kidding!!!!  I'm having a hard enough time hauling these two around now as it is. I couldn't imagine having two more in there.

I thought it might be difficult for you language wise there. Most places you can sorta figure out the words because some of them still look the same. But since they use symbols I thought that might throw a kink in the mix. I couldn't imagine going over there and not being able to speak or understand anything. I would freak out.

Just couldn't stay my @ss away!

Hey, the longest tape worm ever found in a human would have made your day also!

As for the language thing - it is really frustrating. I didn't think it would be that difficult. There were times when I felt pretty lost. My maps were in English, street signs in Japanese, so it did not correspond. I kept on getting lost and going in circles. It took a day or two to get used to it, but the first days were difficult. Plus the restaurant experience where I ended up with a huge whole fried fish that was smelly like an old sock. That was when frustration had reached it's peak.

Today, I had a taxi driver who spoke a few words English. I cried a few tears of joy in the back seat, because there was finally someone to talk to. He was so excited about me being a tourist, he called his wife on his cell phone and let me talk to her for a few minutes. She was super fluent and told me that her husband did understand me right and was bringing me to the right museum. :luv:

Yeah, it was more the cost of getting here that made it a bit more pricey. I just summed it up and the trip incl. food and hotel and taxi etc. was roughly around EUR2200 for the ten days I was here. I guess I could have had a nice 2 weeks beach vacation in Thailand for that money, but then I wanted to see Tokyo. And I did. And loved it. So no regrets.

Did anyone PM a mod to find out why Say Anything Volume 11 got deleted?

Nessa said she was going to do it. I haven't heard anything from her about it though. It might take a while to get a response.
