The Constitution also doesn't say anything about sanctioning torture, but you can't be too picky.

It doesn't say anything about not sanctioning torture either. If it's not not sanctioned, I don't see a problem.

It's not not not sanctioned either. Oy, what do we do now. If only we had a legislative process and weren't limited to what the Constitution says.

I am really torn on this issue. Generally I would have to side with Nagi in that the courts should stay out the the business of parenting, but this really is a life or death decision. It's not like the parents are refusing all help, they want to go with an alternative help.

I think back to when my mother (who is a special ed teacher) was assigned to a young boy with cerebral palsy. Every day he would come in she would teach him to sit up (in his wheelchair), not drool, look at others when speaking to them. Every day. As well as general manners and when to ask to go to the bathroom etc. Every night he would go home, be put in diapers and laid on the carpet in the living room. No wheelchairs allowed in the home, no assisted devices, no interaction, no enrichment. Just laid on the floor. They cited their religious beliefs when explaining why he could not use his wheelchair in the home or have assisted devices. I still don't know why they chose to diaper him and not provide him enrichment.

It was horrible to watch.

Your Children are not Your Children

They are the sons and daughters of life's longing for itself.

They come through you but not from you,

And though they are with you yet they belong not to you.

You may give them your love but not your thoughts,

For they have their own thoughts.

You may house their bodies but not their souls,

For their souls dwell in the house of tomorrow, which you cannot visit, not even in your dreams.

You may strive to be like them, but seek not to make them like you. For life goes not backward nor tarries with yesterday.

Look at the 8th Amendment on cruel and unusual punishments for starters. You it's getting bad when the liberals don't even where to look for some basis for or against something in the Constitution.

Dammit, you're right. I should have added the disclaimer...'of non-citizens'. Good catch, alc.

Edit: What a sec, slick. I don't see the word 'sanction' or 'torture' in there. Only judicial activist would make up words that don't exist in the Constitution.

Yeah I forgot how many of the signers of the Constitution were representing foreign powers. Look at the bottom for the signatures in Arabic.

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

This photo taken on May 8, 2009 shows Daniel Hauser, 13, in New Ulm, Minn. His family, who wants to treat his cancer with natural medicine is waiting to see if a judge will let him refuse chemotherapy for religious reasons. Daniel Hauser has a 90 percent chance of surviving his Hodgkin's lymphoma with chemotherapy, , according to his cancer doctor.
