Excuse me if I should have searched but this is all pretty new to me. I met my wonderful fiance last summer, went to visit her last nov/dec over in Madrid. We got engaged, I returned to NH and filed the I 129f, I had forgot to sign some forms (DOH!!) despite going over the form sooo many times to make sure I had everything. They received it Dec 27 08, sent it back to me to sign the forms i forgot, i sent it back to them, then i got a letter from them where they had listed her last name twice (as her first name as well) so i called and had that squared away and that was on Jan 14th 09. I have signed up on the USCIS website and have been checking it very regularly but nothing has happened since that up dated date.....

I have been looking around on here (just found this site yesterday, wish i had found it a long time ago) and a few questions have come up, I did not submit any sort of cover letter, i did not see anything on the application about it, i also did not submit a photocopy of my passport with the stamp of my trip to Madrid, i did submit a photocopy of my ticket stub that they tear off when you get on the plane and a number of photos of us together in Madrid.

This processing time is starting to drive me crazy, i went and visited her a few weeks ago again in Madrid which was great but i was difficult to leave her and come back with out her. She does not have a job over there right now (she stopped because at the time we did not know how long all of this was going to take) and she cannot come over to visit me as she is from Bulgaria and they do not have a 'visa wavier program'.....

I'm sure i will think of things to update on this later but here is a short introduction to my current situation and a quick "hello" to everyone here, again sorry if there is a FYI here that I just have not found yet....

Welcome to VJ.

  • Cover letter is not required (just a good idea but if you didn't, it's no big deal)
  • Passport (copy of yours) isn't necessarily required - I assume you submitted your birth certificate (copy) to prove citizenship.

Based on your timeline - you should be hearing something soon (hopefully) so the endless waiting can end (at least this, the longest, portion).

Check out the Immigration Timelines link at the top of the page. The stats are based on the info submitted by VJ members (which is why it's important for people to fill in their timelines). Looks like Vermont is averaging about 4.5 months between NOA1 and NOA2, but you can see on Igor's List that some are taking quite a bit longer.

USCIS is quoting 6 months on K1's right now:

https://egov.uscis.gov/cris/processTimesDis...e=serviceCenter

When you hit the 6 month mark, if you still don't have any info then call them at 1-800-375-5283 and find out what's going on.

12/15/2009 - K1 Visa Interview - APPROVED!

12/29/2009 - Married in Oakland, CA!

08/18/2010 - AOS Interview - APPROVED!

05/01/2013 - Removal of Conditions - APPROVED!

Thanks for the quick replys!! Also have a question, she is the one that actually found this site yet she cannot sign on!?!?! is there a reason for this? I am excited that this cover letter is not required! I was just going by the info i saw on the form and the USCIS site

I imagine there's a whole host of possibilities there. What O/S is she using? Which web browser? Does she have cookies enabled? Was she successfully able to create a user account? What precisely happens when she tries to logon?

She is running windows vista, and she can log on to lots of other forums so i doubt it is a cookie issue, she can view a lot of areas of the site, like the photos i just uploaded, but when she tries to log on or sign up, it just says "Sorry, you are not permitted to use this board"..... im not sure what the problem is.... thanks for all the help!

Ok, that message is coming from the IP.Board forum software. Sounds like the IP address she is using was banned by the forum moderators. A spammer might have used the same IP address in the past. If she has a dynamic IP address, then the problem may clear itself the next time she's assigned a new IP address.

If she has a static IP address (probably the case if she has a broadband connection or uses an internet cafe) then you could send a PM to the moderators and ask if they'll lift the ban on her IP address. If she doesn't know how to find out her IP address (heck, most people probably don't) tell her to go to whatsmyip.org. Her IP address will be displayed in large text at the top of the screen. It should be 4 numbers between 0 and 255, separated by periods:

123.123.123.123

well we are starting to get worried, i did not know about that this type of forum existed so when i completed the forums (the I129F and the 325) I had her sign them, scan them, then email them to me so i could print them to submit with the application.... she found this video

and it has us worried that we did not do this correctly. We have been waiting ~6 months already and are not sure what the best course of action is. Hind sight is always 20/20...:(

Sorry. I don't have time to watch the video right now.

A lot of documents submitted with the I-129F can be copies, though originals will be needed for many of them at the consulate stage. However, ANY document that either you or her have to sign MUST BE the original. Scans of the G-325A can't be submitted.

Is it too late to get the original from her and revise your petition?
