yeah tomaran, i am wondering the same thing JimandChristy is....

and anyone else recently within the past two weeks send passport to the embassy, how long did it take to get it back?

The SMS people told my fiance over the phone that it would take approx 10-15 days total for my fiance to receive the passport back from the embassy...

In reply to both your questions....

I booked the collection on friday 29th of may and yeah SMS told me 10 -15 days

They collected it on the 1st June and i got a text from them on friday the 5th saying it was ready for delivery back from the embassy.

Delivery was scheduled for before 12pm on monday the 8th june.

Nothing came so when i called SMS i was told they had only just received it. Anyway i paid an extra £20 on phone to have a pre 8am delivery and it came yesterday.

I'm guessing it all depends on the nature of the documents the embassy requested, and thats why i figure mine was a quick turnaround.

I'm pretty sure Marm yours will be pretty quick since all they need to do is put that pretty looking visa in your fiances passport and send it back (and it is pretty just wait till you see it hehe!)

Jimand Christy, not sure why yours took so long but only difference i can think was i paid the extra £5.90 both ways for collect and deliver (Plus extra £20 to have it back before 8)

Who knows, its all a money game....probably

Crumbs, so you paid in total £24.50 + £20.55 + £5.90 for the complete service? What a complete rip off, I should have used Royal Mail to deliver the documents to the Embassy and use the Courier service on the return. Anyway I'm hoping for a quick turnaround because all I need to send in was a copy of my Co-sponsor's birth certificate.

Actually i paid £24.50 + £5.90 + £5.90 (collect and return pre 12pm) . I would have left it at that but didnt wanna waste another half day with work and stuff so i upgraded to pre 8am for (£20)

I dont care really not that i like throwing money away but we've been apart 3 years almost...visits in between of course, and quite frankly i'd sell everything i own to be with my soulmate.

Anyway when you have that bad boy in your hand you'll know it was worth any money spent!

For all of you that sent in your passports after the interview with SMS...

:help:

Did you include the 221(g) request for additional documents paper with your passport in the envelope for the embassy? I didn't know whether to tell my fiance to include it or not with his passport, so I told him to ask the courier when they came to pick up his passport, but the courier person had no idea, and so my fiance decided to just send in the passport, without the 221(g) he was given at the end of his interview back in May. I hope he wasn't wrong not to include it?!? Just the passport sent to the embassy should be fine, correct? :help:

Oh and in case anyone doesn't know: my fiance was issued the 221(g) request for additional documents ONLY for his passport, that is all the US Embassy wanted from him.

Well I sent in my passport with the blue form because it had my case number on it, thought it would be necessary to give the Embassy a reference to the additional documents. To be honest I wouldn't worry about it too much, they know a passport has come in through the Courier, they'll just look up your fiances name and go from there.

OK, so turns out it should not be an issue that my fiance did not include the 221(g) form along with his passport.

My fiance called SMS today to ask about the status of the delivery since we were having issues viewing it online, and he was told that it should be delivered today by lunch time! So hopefully it really does get delivered today then!

Just wondering about the tracking #...the courier guy gave my fiance two tracking numbers

They both are exact same except the last digit is different. He gave him a piece of the envelope he was taking my fiance's passport in (the part with the tracking #) and he said (wasn't so sure of himself) that the first number is to track his passport for delivering to the embassy and then he gave him a piece of another envelope inside the envelope he put the passport in (with another tracking # on it) and said the second one is to track the delivery of my fiance's passport back to him from the embassy. And we checked the first number (the one supposedly for tracking his passport to the embassy) and earlier today it showed that they had attempted delivery and then a while ago it began to show that it has been "returned to the client" which doesn't make sense at all, so my fiance called the customer service # for SMS courier and she confirmed (did not ask him for the tracking #, only asked for my fiance's name and address) and said that there is no problem, it should be delivered to the embassy by lunch time today. So we thought maybe the courier guy didn't know what he was talking about when he gave us TWO tracking #s...anyone else have a similar experience?

My Courier was the same, he didn't know what went where etc....the envelope inside the envelope is for the passport but I didn't know whether it was for the return trip or not. So I just ended up putting the passport inside the first envelope along with my blue form and documents.

If you use the online service you know if your package has arrived when it says "Item Collected and Returned to Client" so it seems it has arrived. Unfortunately I wasn't given the second tracking number so I'll just randomly change the last number of my original tracking number and see if anything comes up.

It's been a week since I sent mine off and still not received a text from SMS to say it's on the way back :(

I really hope you get a text by Monday saying its on its way back!

Yours arrived at the embassy on June 10 (Wed) so give or take 2/3 days by Monday or Tuesday you should be getting the good news that it is on it's way! Keep us updated! And as far as your tracking #, ours going to the embassy was XXXXXXXXX1 and the one that is supposedly for the passport on its way back is XXXXXXXXX2. So play around with the last digit of your tracking # and see if it works! Good luck and keep us posted on the progess!

Thanks MARM.....the tracking number I was given ended in a 2, so it might be a case of randomly trying numbers between 0 and 9. Also after looking through the 2009 interview thread it seems you receive your text from SMS at around 4pm/5pm...so there is still time yet for me today. Fingers crossed. I just want to book the flight for the 23rd June and get it sorted lol.

I also am restless for booking my flight to the UK, because as soon as my fiance gets his passport back with the visa, I will be joining him in the UK and we are taking a trip to Pakistan together before his POE in the USA.

prima and jay: You are moving along! Yaay! Hope you get the bc from the cosponsor ASAP! Don't worry it is almost over!
