Oh God yes!! I can hardly contain myself...thanks Marm. How are you getting on btw ??

Well, my fiance withdrew his FLR(S) application (in order to get his passport back) on May 22 and was told that he should get his passport back to him within 10 working days. He called the UKHO a few times over the week to find out if they had dispatched the passport or not, and they kept telling him the system still says "in processing" that is all that they can tell him and to call back on Monday June 08, 2009 if he still does not get it by then...this is so damn frustrating (excuse the cursing) but we don't know what to do...and I am getting more and more afraid that maybe the UKHO has lost his passport, he asked the customer service reps who pick up the calls (and make him wait 20-30 minutes and then feed him a line of b.s in 30 seconds about why he doesn't have his passport yet) to confirm whether they actually had his passport or whether it is lost and they said that they cannot confirm that for him, the IOs have that kind of information, and no he cannot talk to an IO...

I was reading this news article: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-10...inal-hands.html

Not an outdated article, my fiance had applied for his FLR(S) in Nov of 2008. So we don't know what to do...the UKHO cannot confirm anything for us, they have proved to be full of BS...and the Pakistani Consulate cannot make him a new passport unless he has a police report confirming his passport is lost, and even if he gets one (which is IMPOSSIBLE from the UKHO) they take an average of 1 month to make him a new passport.

Bottom line: We don't know what to do at the moment. He will call on Monday and try his best to figure out what the hell is going on...(its not like he hasn't done it before, but what more can we do?).

P.S. It will be 27 days since his interview on Monday.

Visa Journey completed, but we are still here to provide support! :)

i'm so sorry your process is this frustrating, I KNOW how it feels to be this close, then have to wait and not feel in control. look s like we all have to find some way to feel in control in this process, or just let go.

MARM, you can do this, however long it seems now, you can get through it. Almost there.

prima and jay,

thanks for the advice, we contacted my fiance's local MP about 2 months...was not successful. All he could tell us is write a letter stating that he has told the UKHO to update him periodically on my fiance's student visa extension status.

I didnt know that the ukho lost passports, i have always had a good response from them, particulary because i'm British and i can just go and pay for one at petit france on the day. If it is the case that he has to get a new passport, would the ukho pay for it, and possibly expedite it? What are the options is basically what i'm getting at.

I read that article. Not very comforting is it. Its shitty having to go through both processes, the visa and the passport.

I only wish i had words of comfort but i know they're not gonna help you get what you need. I do hope they have something meaningful to update you with on Monday. But as i understand its the UKHO that have his passport and not the passport office? At the end of the day these are all little tests of endurance and its situations like this that build character. YOU WILL BOTH CONQUER THIS HURDLE! I say that from expereince in other matters of course, but you will both come out of this stronger than when you went it. Way i see it is these bumpy rides make for better stability later on. Makes me think of loads of people who have had it so easy and their relationships are on the rocks.

Anyway digressing a bit there....But wish you all the best. (Btw i think you are an outstanding example to all of us because you put so much into these forums and I for one am grateful for all the support i have recieved no matter how big or small)

MARM honey, all I can say is

AAARRRRGGGGGGHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!! :ranting:

I am so frustrated over his passport and it's not even my case. I know you have been very thorough and done everything you can, but this is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard of. He lives near the office, right? Has he gone in person and demanded to speak to a supervisor? You can't keep a person's Pakistani passport seven months. I would go in and stand in their face for 8 hours and make a fuss :protest: at this point, until somebody talked to me. They would have to get the police to drag me out. But I know he's in a awkward position not being a British citizen.

Thanks for the kind words tomaran, (F) really appreciate it, and it is my pleasure to be part of such a wonderful online support system for this incredulous visa journey.

Thanks for feeling our pain Nich  we have prepared 4 LETTERS of complaint and "forewarned" suing the UK Home Office for all the pain they have caused us if his passport issue is not resolved now. I mean he doesn't even want to stay in the UK anymore, give him back his damn passport and he will be out of there in no time...no reason for them to hold it when he has asked for a withdrawal...unless they lost it of course, which God forbid is not the case hopefully. Well, hopefully this week we resolve this issue...the hope is still there, I just wish things actually started falling in place for a change.

Will keep everyone updated!

Thanks for all your support everyone, it means a lot to us!

MARM

Edited to add: Oh yes, he has tried to go in person, he is very near the main UK Home Office, but they refused to even talk to him...honestly foreign student in the UK aren't very high up on the food chain so the treatment isn't very welcoming

But if only they could understand how much he is wishing to get out of there as much as they don't want to deal with UK student applications!

Keep us updated prima and jay, we hope that you get a fast visa turnaround after sending in the copy of the birth cert and missing tax return by this Friday! Lot's of hoping and wishing for good news this week for us too...

On a different note, the UKHO will not disclose which post has his passport, but we have figured it out by process of elimination...and no he cannot go and pick it up, they won't even talk to him if he shows up to the offices without an appointment and you do not get appointments to pick up documents or just "talk" to an IO about an emergency or anything like that...and being that he is a UK student and a Pakistani citizen, he doesn't feel comfortable pushing farther than we already have, and frankly my dear fiance has done more than he could so far anyway...we will see this week whether our new calls, new faxes and letters of complaint and warning to sue the UKHO will have any effect...

OK according to SMS my passport and document should arrive at the Embassy tomorrow (Tuesday), why a £25 service takes two working days to deliver seems a bit of a rip off....anyway looking at previous cases on this thread fingers crossed I will get a reply for the return with a visa by Thursday or Friday at least. I want to fly out on the 23rd June but put off booking the tickets until I know the Visa is stamped inside the passport.

After all the drama and blue slips, i received my visa this morning. Even though i am happy and very lucky to have got a result i know what it's like to be in the same boat as you guys, so I do sympathize and hope you all get your discrepancies sorted asap. Marm..I feel for you because it seems things are way beyond your control and your being forced to play a waiting game at the hands of the UKHO, but all good things you know.

PrimaJay..I know yours will get sorted out soooooooon, hardest part is gathering the extra documents requested and from my experience once you send them in they expedite it pretty quickly, mine was sorted out in 4 days, so once they come to collect all your stuff i figure you wont wait more than week.

My only gripe is that i sent off my original birth cert and translation along with copies and a note requesting they send the originals back...they did not! So now i have no original documents of either, just scans that i took on the computer.

I can only hope they are in the brown envelope they sent along with the visa and i'm hoping i can ask for them back at the POE. Good luck guys i'm chanting for you both..keep us posted.
