Hi gang!

I am a bit confused.. about to send off my I-134, etc. to my fiancee in England for her interview.

I am of course the sponsor, and my dad will be the co-sponsor... he lives with me.

He doesn't have a birth certificate (he was born in Germany), but has a certificate of Naturalization here from the US District Court.

Can I just send a copy of that? (I notice people here stating they are sending original birth certificates) ...I am confused if a copy of his Certificate of Naturalization will be enough

I am sending a copy of my birth certificate also (short one i guess), and my passport ... as they are part of the copy of our entire I-129 petition

I am trying to learn from everyone else's experiences here in this thread, so as to avoid any sort of delay whatsoever.

I would be eternally grateful for any feedback or help with my confusion!!

Thanks to you all in advance! :)

There was a copy of my birth certificate in the original petition, so my finance had a copy at the interview but he wasn't asked for it nor did he give it to them. He gave them the I-134, tax returns and bank statements for 6 months plus my divorce decree which shows child support my kids receive.

OK, thanks Diard! :)

Does anyone have any feedback regarding whether or not including a COPY of my dad's (the co-sponsor) Certificate of Naturalization will be sufficient? (instead of the actual certificate or a birth certificate)

Thanks again!!

Hi,

Please can someone help me? I'm just need to confirm that when sending in additional documents like birth certificate, you send in a photocopy and the original copy which should be returned with the visa.

Is this true?

I sent the original and a copy of my birth cert along with a letter requesting the original back. They never sent either back, just my passport with visa.

I'm still waiting 21 days after it was mailed in to the embassy. We were just SO close all to be stopped by a simple birth cert. I know I'm whining, but I just can't help it.

Has anyone else had any luck with the return of their visa?

ok - question you guys.. for those of you who had your interview, you are waiting on your visa - because something was missing? John did his interview today.. is this to say we could be 3-4 more weeks for the visa to arrive? They said his visa was approved, but he needs to send them his original birth certificate. will he get that original back? This is scary!

Thanks for input!

Original? You just have to get the long form birth certificate from either the local registry where he was born or you can order it from the main registry. The London Embassy link on here gives you the best website to use:

http://www.visajourney.com/consulates/inde...&cty=London

You should send the original and the copy. Not sure what you get back from London, but you can always order another if it doesn't get returned.

I am sooooo sorry you didn't see my post before he went to learn from our mistakes. It is SO frustrating. Seriously!! :(

Just a quick up date on our visa darama.

Timeline:

10/30 - Visa Interview (missing long form bc)

11/4 - Courier delivered all info to embassy

11/16 - Embassy acknowledged our case and said it was approved pending the printing of the visa (aka sitting in another pile)

11/30 - Embassy call center finally gave us an email address with code so that they will actually answer the email

12/1 - Embassy emailed back saying visa has been printed and sent to DX courier

No word from DX as of yet.

That's our story so far.

We were approved awaiting birth certificates and police reports. It's been 20 days since the embassy received our passports and documentation. Granted, in our case we have two children coming with their mother. Does it really take this long. I'm going to call the embassy tomorrow to try to get some information. Anyone else still waiting this long? What's the longest anyone has had to wait when they were told at the window that they were approved?

Ok thats good news..they're not THAT backed up. Ours was easy too, needed subject access for a tire slashing incident 18yrs ago, all's well at interview, got our stuff Nov 23rd, so we're waiting....hopefully not long...I'm calling the dept of state lots and lots..nevermind the expensive email/extortion line.
