Thanks for checking in on us. :star:

Well, we have recently put in a request for a third Senatorial inquiry (basically we used the other senator and our congressman so this is the third ship to burn). And last we heard, the first senatorial inquiry told us that DOS/London has stated that my fiance's case is in final review. So whatever that means, we don't know...because DOS is no help at all when we call and ask for updates.

The last time I called DOS, it was extremely frustrating:

The DOS rep called me stupid for thinking that she could tell us the last date my fiance's case was updated (even though I KNOW they give out that info and they DO). And when I told her that my congressman and senators told me that his case is in final review, and whether there is an update, she snickered and said, "well, the congressional and senatorial staff workers are not allowed to get that information, that is wrong." And that was the final straw with me and DOS (at least for now). How could she laugh and tell me that? It is sick to think that its funny for her that people's lives are on the line and she can just laugh and not give me a straight answer. I don't know how people on AP that are active on VJ get dates for security checks being ordered, or last updated dates on their cases just by calling DOS, it has not been possible for us so far to even get an inkling of info from DOS. If it weren't for our senators and congressman, we would be beyond insane with frustration right now.

So 3 days from now, it will be 3 months since my fiance's interview...and we are praying that Allah grants my fiance his visa in his hand before we hit the 3 month mark or around that time, because we have had it with this entire process, it is utterly beyond frustrating.

Just wish us the best as you all always do :) and I will of course post our updates here as soon as they come in.

Visa Journey completed, but we are still here to provide support! :)

getting mad helps because it makes the time pass quicker. this is frustrating but i hope as they say this is final review phase. at least (one hopes) you wont have to replicate this frustration in AOS. yes i hope it goes well with you both, let god move quickly to give you a definate answer.

Time line of sending additional documents

1st June - Interview, approved pending Birth Certificate of Co-Sponsor

5th June - Sent additional documents via SMS

10th June - Embassy acknowledges it has received the additional documents

15th June - Embassy prints Visa and received text from SMS saying it will be delivered on 16th June.

Total processing time (excluding delivery time) approx = 3 working days.

Yaaaaayyyyyyyy!!!...time to book the flight!

We have contacted Senators/Congressman but no response yet. Also, we still have not gotten any replies from the US Embassy in London. But a DOS rep has given us this new information:

A DOS representative told me while checking the status of my fiance's case that "The US Embassy in London has not transferred his file to the next database for printing. It is still in the first one." When I asked what that means, she told me that when they transfer to the second database, then it is in queue for printing. His case is still at the US Embassy in London, but it is yet to be internally transferred."

What does this mean?

I think the officer approves and sends on to the visa printer station who does the visa and gives to courier. So it probably means you haven't been approved. Either they are waiting on name checks (AP) or it's sitting there because they are waiting on the passport, which could be sitting somewhere else and they failed to match up. It is maddening and I know you've wished you could just go in and find your stuff, put it together and hand it to them. I hope the congress people will make a timely request to them and spur them on to at least give you a logical answer.

marm, how do u call the embassy and talk to dos? which number isit? is it the number that you have to pay 1.20 pound per minute that number????? i have been trying to call them but they say that is the only way i can get to know by the paying phone number to get any info......i am soo confused...which one is the embassy extortion line?

To call the embassy: extortion line is the one that you have to pay 1.20 GBP for, you are correct. The # is on the US Embassy in London's website: 09042-450100.

Operator Assisted Visa Information

For Operator Assisted Visa Information call 09042-450100 (this is NOT a London number. It does not require any other prefix or dialling code.)

Service available Monday through Friday, 8.00 a.m. until 9.00 p.m., and on Saturdays from 09.00 a.m. until 4.00 p.m.; £1.20/min; only available in the U.K., within U.K. may be unavailable from some business telephones and mobile networks.

BUT since you already sent in your documents with the courier and are interested in whether your documents have been logged in the system by the embassy, I would suggest calling

1) SMS Courier services and verifying when they delivered the documents:

This is the Courier service number to call: 0800 0197847 (Customer service) and they will verify when they dropped off your documents to the US Embassy in London.

2) Call DOS: 202-663-1225 (this is not like the extortion line, you don't have to pay anything except your normal nationwide US rate) And ask about the status of your visa processing. They will ask for your LND# and fiance's name and then proceed to tell you whatever information they can or have.

Hope this helps!

Hi everyone,

Had some issues getting the docs back to embassy as my fiance was confused. He ended up sending the requested doc special delivery and then phoned curior for his passport. So the two items arrived separately.

So just the info for anyone wanting to loosely compare their expected times.

Intreview- July 7th

Sent requested translated doc- July 20

Sent passport- July 23

Items received (not sure when but DOS finally said the emabassy had everything they needed and the visa was in the final stages, whatever that means)- Aug 5

Curior has sch delivery- Aug 10.

We are rather skeptcal (and after reading horror stories of typos on visa) to make plans and celebrate too much yet but come Monday, we will be on top of world.

Marm- by the way, I am mostly a lurker here but not a day goes by where I don't think and pray for you and your beloved to be together soon. I can't wait for the day you post the good news update.

It is always good news when they are working on your case  Hope it won't be long now, InshaAllah soon he will have his visa in hand. Thank you for keeping us in your prayers too (F)(F)(F). Just a question...your hubby's fingerprints were not taken on the day of his interview at the embassy? I am just wondering why they would ask him in again for fingerprints if they already took them...

InshaAllah I hope we get good news by the end of this week. Keep posting updates emma88! Lots of duas for both of us!

To everyone here thank you for all your help, I'm off to the airport now. will keep you all informed about POE. Marm praying its the end for you too.

xx

Prima ..........soon to be Mrs!!!!!!

Thanks Prima...good luck with POE, looking forward to hearing from you from THIS SIDE of the pond.

well i'm here now, and it was ok, long lines in Detroit, and I had to pay excess on my bags at Heathrow. I had to get my visa revalidated because I was approved way back in September had to go in another line for the K1 to be ok. other than that hassle free, except I will say to anyone " dont fly NWA!" they are awful, terrible food, nasty service. I spilt water on my blanket and was old that theres one per chair.

well i'm gonna get some rest, absolutely shatterd but i'm here with my lovely husband to be. Thank s to all of you for keeping me going.

Marm i'm stilll lookinf out for you.

xxx

p

Hey Prima, My fiance sent me his Visa and I noticed it had the date that the petition was approved as Nov 13th 2008. What exactly did you have to do to get the Visa revalidated? I just wanted to let my fiance know someone else was thru it and not to fear. :-) Any info you can provide we would appreciate.
