I'm trying to sell an old pair of diamond rings on craigslist.

I just got this email from someone and I'm wondering if this is a scam. They want to offer me more money ?

I really need to sell these rings but I don't want to be ripped off either.

(2) Will u be able to ship the package as soon as u get the confirmation letter from Paypal Or Money order Or Cheque,that i made the payment?

(3) how many of the item(s) do u have in stock and how much do u prefer me to pay for each of it? kindly send me the information requested

Ya, I read that scam thing from craigslist and thats why I didn't think this was for real.

I replied back that I only intend to sell the rings locally and for the price I offerred them for sale. No less & No more.

Sounds like you've already made your decision and a good one. I use Craigslist all the time, mostly for Red Sox tickets and I have never been burned, but have read a few things that looked like scams. Since it is a list that is free for anyone to read, I would say there is always a chance at getting scammed and you have to go with your gut! Good luck selling the earrings!

Love craigslist. Wife was sick, so a few hrs before the Caps/Penquins game we decided not to go. Put an ad up on craigslist, and within minutes tickets were sold!!

While Craigslist is wonderful in many ways (we found our tenant that way, and she is fantastic), if you want to sell or buy valuable stuff, I would suggest eBay. I know it's not free, but the safety guarantees are worth paying a few cents (or bucks) for.

Just don't send anything until you get the money.

If it's a cheque or money order, make sure it clears. If it's PayPal, wait until the money shows up in your account.

The Nigerian scammers often have certified checks that are so good they do clear the bank only to come back to haunt you a couple weeks later. YOU are resposible even if the check initially cleared.

I've bought stuff via CraigsList and always met to do the transaction in person, in cash. The email definately sounds fishy. I worked in a certain phone industry that was used and absued by West African scammers, and the grammar has the same quirks that they used to have.
