Hi folks!

I am wondering whether anyone has any information on this. For the states where District Offices administer naturalization oaths, is it possible to take the oath at a different DO than the one where you had your interview? My DO is only scheduling oaths for July 4 at this point, and I will be out of the country at the time. I can take the oath when I return, but that is 3 months away. If it is at all possible, I'd rather take the oath before I have to leave.

Thanks much!

US Citizen since August 09.

Probably the answer will be "No" Unless you have valid reason such as moving to another DO's jurisdiction.

Also it will create more delay because they have to transfer the case to new DO, and they may have problem such as lost in the mail for transfer.

So I do NOT recommend this at all.

3 months away will be much better that 5~6 month delay by case transfer to different DO.

You should check if there are other locations in WA that may have an earlier oath ceremony for you to attend. CT has 3 locations and I suspect the oath ceremonies are on different days. My interview was at the DO in hartford (sole DO) but oath ceremony in New Haven. In my case the interview offiers had a letter ready with date/time and New Haven location. I am not sure if I could have asked him for an earlier date at another location.
