Relocating to California and removal of conditions

Hi guys,

I'm already gathering all documents and evidence of our marriage for my removal of conditions, even if I just received my conditional card 2 months ago

Anyway.. I have just relocated to San Diego from Chicago, and when I set up the utilities I was told that in California you can't show 2 names on the bills (mine and my husband's). Is this true? I wanted to have both names on our utilities as extra evidence for my paperwork..

Any advice?

We just moved to Ohio from California(Sacramento area). We were told the same thing about the bills being in one name when we first set up utilities in California but what we did is we started service with Husbands name and social security number then he called after the first bill came and added my name to the mailing address. I think the problem is the account s cannot be set up under two social security numbers. On some of the bills they had to shorten my husbands name to fit both names.

Can't you have one utility in your name and another in his, based at the same address?

We didn't submit any utility bills (both were set up in my name before he arrived and I never changed them) and we were fine

You should be able to have both names on the utility bills here in CA. We had them set up under one, and a couple months later called and had them add the spouse, so we have had two names shown on most bills for years. So, it should be doable without any problems...

So far we only set up Gas and electric (one bill only, as this company does both) and AT&T, and AT&T was the one that told me we couldn't add another name to the account in California. I'll call SDEG (San Diego Electric and Gas) in a couple of months to ask them to add my husband at least on the billing address. Thank you for the feedback!

Probably not AT&T, as AT&T in Texas is the same way, cannot add another name, doesn't matter house phone/internet/cable TV, only one name, probably the one with better credit, otherwise they would ask for security deposit. Electricity and gas are easy, they don't even ask any question or ask to see any documents.

I had AT&T in Chicago as well, but it showed 2 names, that's why I thought it wasn't a problem.. oh well, it's probably going to be ok even without the utility bills, like rkl57 said.
