sir, i really think you are being hurtful... it's one thing to provide me with information it's a whole another thing to put into question somebody's life's decisions jsut because you feel like making a jab at people's lack of judgment in a moment in their lives...

i really hope you will never be in a position where your judgment will prevent you from doing the right thing.... ironically usually people taht say things like those are usually the ones that because of their lack of empathy end up in the most sad situations later on... and then your words will COME BACK AND BITE YOU IN THE BUTT... that's why a person should thing it through before judging so freely somebody's own mistakes...

a way to combat this situation so it doesn't come back and bite you in the butt is to read the guides and answer TRUTHFULLY....

visadreamerinlove ---- I just thought I would add here that I don't believe HelloWorld08 was trying to be disrespectful or hurtful. I've seen him post many many times on VJ to people with questions such as yours and he is always graceful and kind. Sometimes in written words the sentiment a person means does not come across correctly. HelloWorld08 is "one of the good guys", if you know what I mean.

Thanks man!

Hello,

Also to consider is your fiancee's police records. Was he arrested while he was using illegal drugs? Anything sketchy on his record like that?

I believe most (if not all) US consulates require these records when one shows up to be interviewed. Something like that on a record, even if it's "just" marijuana, could be an issue-- especially that recent.

Another thing I will mention, just for the record, is "statistics" with regard to what your fiancee dealt with. For drug or alcohol addiction or abuse, 1.5 years is a short time to be clean. I am speaking strictly statistically, but from experience with friends and acquaintances.

As the saying goes, one who is addicted generally needs two years to be"TOTALLY" free of something addictive like this, and it's something you should keep in mind as well.

Of course I don't mean to get personal or doubt your certainty in your fiancee, but again, there is a reason the US takes this stuff seriously with regard to immigration-- it's a matter of cold hard statistics.
