Alright you two.

Yet another example of conduct to outrage conservative Muslims.

Reminds me the Python movie The Meaning of Life where Chapman wishes to die being chased by barebreasted women. There's your punishment.

I agree with Obama's decision. Most service members serve honorably under very difficult decisions & the actions of a few should not represent what we stand for (I say "we" because I am an Army officer). The flip side of this is that those who do not serve honorably should be punished accordingly. In the end its a balancing act.

Correct me if I am wrong but these photos are not about service members... unless you consider the CIA service members.

Pike's quote specifically mentioned service members, but my point remains the same... the actions of the few should not define the organization as a whole.

I disagree. For one, he won't have the final say, a judge will. But by taking this position, he will appear to be covering up those atrocities rather than helping shed light on them. I think this is a case where he compromised his stand at the cost of truth and justice.

Under most circumstances truth & justice should prevail, but what if the truth leads to an undesired end state that negatively impacts the innocent? Again the individuals involved should be punished, not everyone.

That's understandable, but in this case, the cat is already out of the bag, and trying to put the cat back in bag is only going fuel more outrage, IMO. ...better to the let the photos out now that everyone knows about them.

As far as I know the CIA got approval and direction on how to proceed with these matters, why would we punish them?

If you want to pursue this witch hunt The first persons you need to look at are those who gave the OK (Bush's people) and the leaders who knew about it but said nothing Pelosi etc.

Let me tell you how this things often work. (politics being what it is)

We will be in the midst of a investigation on some silly charge of waterboarding the very master-mind who planned 9-11 and BAM! we will have another terror strike somewhere.

What do you think the public is going to scream for then....I'll tell you what... the head of any politician hindering the CIA from keeping this country safe.

It's over, we Waterboarded a few bad guys who deserved worse... let it go.

The problem with the situation is that in many cases alleged terrorists turn out to be innocent, which means you just tortured an innocent man. It is very rarely a Jack Bauer situation where we are sure the guy is a terrorist & getting the info out of him will directly lead to saving lives. I admit its a complicated issue with no easy answers, but condoning what is considered torture by some standards (e.g. the military considers waterboarding as torture) is a slippery slope.
