I like this thread :)

I haven't posted for a while but I do think this site is such a fantastic resource...it makes you feel not alone when everyone else around you thinks you've gone slightly mad ;)

Me and my boy will have been engaged for a year next month...we almost filed last year, but hit some problems between us that we needed to sort out. Now we're back on track and if it stays that way we'll be filing at the end of the year :)

The funniest thing is, I've actually lived where he does (Orlando) for 9 months in the past and I know I love it there, but it still scares me witless!! I think it's the idea of leaving behind my family - who I'm used to having an hour down the road - and all my friends who know me inside out, and starting over again. I love my other half to death :) but that doesn't stop me being rather frightened!! Can someone else tell me that's normal please?! It'll make me feel better!!

Jess :)

welcome jess....

yea, its purely natural.. every girl passes through this roller coaster ride of emotions before wedding and it hurts to leave family and friends behind.. but we get new family of the spouse, new friends and the most importantly someone who loves you more than anything in the world...isnt tht more important. and you can always go and meet your family and friends when you get vacations, right?

This is true :) I'm just such a mummy's girl ;) (altho she claims she's going to come with me in my suitcase and be my babysitter!!)

That is the whole point, Jess =P To not feel alone. I will say it again: How I wish VJ was around when I arrived here 13 yrs ago!! It's totally natural to feel anxious, nervous, scared, etc.

I think they way I'm looking at it is, anything worth doing is tough and probably painful as well...I can go see them on vacation (although that is one thing I am seriously going to miss about the UK...5.5 weeks paid vacation per year!! ;)) and to be fair, I'm going to be living in Florida so I doubt I'll have a shortage of people wanting to come visit :)

It's just going to be the day-to-day pointless phone calls that I'll miss the most I think.
