Hello,

I submitted the I-130 at the Sao Paulo consulate for my wife on 04/30. I thought I would update my VJ timeline and noticed the field "Pay I-864 Bill". The only reference to a fee on the Brazilian embassy's website is a total fee for an immigrant visa of $400. I assume we pay that at the time of the interview. On the I-864 there isn't reference to a fee either.

Will we need to pay another fee for the I-864? Are they the same thing?

Thanks for the help.

I thought the fee was $70.00 for the I-864. (reference the I-864 on the USCIS site) (State department says the same thing) - and it doesn't apply if it's filed abroad.

USCIS:

Special Instructions :

Note on Fees:

Although USCIS does not charge a fee for this form, the Department of State does charge a fee of $70 when the Affidavit of Support is reviewed domestically. This does not apply when the Affidavit of Support is filed abroad. For more information, please see the Department of State, Affidavit of Support Review Fee, in the Related Links of this page.

State:

Affidavit of Support Review (only when AOS is reviewed domestically), Form I-864 : $70.00

My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.

WARNING: Phrases in this post may sound meaner than they were intended to be. Read the Adjudicator's Field Manual from USCIS

I am sure this is on one of these posts... but do I need to make an appointment with the Vancouver US Embassy to file my i-130? If so, who the heck do I call? All I can find on the websites are 1-900 numbers???

Thanks thanks!
