oops sorry, can't edit my post to correct all the msitakes. :(

and also: i didn't mean to compare to copare skidoo to victim of halocaust of course..btu the other ugly soul to the ppl that participating in that by denouncing and they were sure that they were doing the right thing.

sending someone to difficluties whden they are just in fact doing their ways with the troubles to the society...i found that shameful.

so do i. i'm half polish and both my grand-parents were in camps so i should know. english nor american people just can't understand what you mean and what 'denonciation' means to us french. they should open a book and read a bit about what happened in France during WW2. your comparison is spot on. if we were back in 1942, i also agree these posters are the kind who would have been with Petain. as you said: "it's a state of mind".

Deferred Action: a minimal humanitarian status which The Department of Homeland Security can grant in cases of extremely compelling humanitarian facts (such as a life-threatening illness). The status permits an individual to remain in the United States for a limited period of time (generally two years) after which point he or she must re-apply.

I would suggest contacting USCIS direct, as it appears there is a legal contingency for your situation.

Seriously, you need to stop responding to every negative post. It inflames those already involved and it makes others less willing to help you.

Best of luck in getting the right solution for your mother's care.

Sorry the link isn't working for you, but it's fine for me. The site I referenced is actually a Gay Immigration organisation, but I would imagine comparable USCIS terms (formerly DHS) are still relevant today, regardless of sexual orientation.

It's the only site I could find that actually referenced non-US citizens and illness-based humanitarian conditions using a quick search engine.

Try going to http://www.immigrationequality.org >> Immigration Basics >> Glossary of Terms.

I couldn't find a similar terminology on the USCIS website, which is why I recommend that you contact them directly for clarification.

I wouldn't pity the USC to whom I am bethrothed. Pity me. I am marrying a Republican.

 Republican....lol, THIS was funny!!! As for the rest of the thread, God-willing, for the sake of your mother...things will work out the way they need too. As others have suggested, sounds like you should be speaking to an immigration lawyer. Good luck.

one last thing uscandual: since you seem to know it all, how come I can't edit my original post anymore? If only for one thing, to remove the parts that got you all concerned with the board's TOS. Is there a time limit to edit one's post? Or did you block perhaps me that feature on purpose? Please explain.

you have a five minute window from posting to edit and repost the edited material. uscandual has nothing to do with that, it's set by site admin.

Probably naive of me to ask (and probably I'll get pounced on for something I say as well...) but with all the ties skidoo (you) has (have) to France, couldn't you apply for a tourist visa--isn't there a 10 year entry multiple entry one? I know France is a visa waiver country, so does that mean you can't apply for a multiple entry one? What is the length of time one is allowed to remain in the US as a tourist?

People seem to be getting hung up on definitions which can be considered quite fluid (socially constructed). For example, "residence." With all the ties to France, perhaps he could still consider France his place of residence. Not everyone has one house, one employer, or fits some simple mold.
