Is that what you think the cause is? How many children do you have currently in elementary school? Come back to me when you do. Thanks.

None yet.

How about you as Mother-of-the-Year? If so, I may have missed your posts on your kids and you sure have plenty of time to post as a busy mother.

lol, u don't gotta start the name calling dude... are you from Texas? oh.. guess what, you're also proving the stereotype right with your hot-head attitude

Somebody is still sore about the Alamo.

and somebody doesn't know about history..

Santa Anna was already exiled from the country when he had the smart idea of attacking the Alamo .. so, it was just his crazy @ss doing that..

I do find it a bit odd that the conservatives on this site are against this. You know, local community standards, let those who know the area decide for themselves, that line of reasoning. This is afterall, Alameda county (that is code for San Francisco aka gay HQ). Maybe it's just an inherent dislike of all things gay from some people.

Well, I don't really give a $hit. I just think it's a waste of time and resource to teach this at such a young age. Plus, I dislike how society won't let kids be kids. When I was a kid, all I cared about was doing my homework, Transformers, ThunderCats and He-Man.

Those days are gone. Now lets move on and see how we can best prepare our kids for the future. This sort of curriculum might not make sense in Texas, but in a community where gay families is very prevalent it does.

I know you have some sort of illogical dislike of Texas and it shows. You don't have a fvcking clue about that state (not that it surprises me). You seem to cling to Hollywood stereotypes. If you had the slightest bit of knowledge beyond 1950s westerns, you'd know that Texas is actually a very multicultural state.

Have you ever been to Houston, Dallas, San Antonio or Austin? Probably not. If you had, you'd know better than to make moronic comments about Texas (such as I've seen you do).

If you lack any relevant knowledge about a subject, keep your goddamn idiotic mouth shut.

I have been to Texas many times. I have family in El Paso and San Antonio. I like to go to the SXSW festival when I can, but outside of that, No, I don't like it there, just a personal preference. The reference wasn't a jab at texas per se, just saying that this sort of curriculum might not make sense in areas where gay culture isn't quite as prevalent.

Now, lets quit the misnomers and get back on topic.

Ah, of course. You know every facet of life and culture within Texas. Naturally, you say there's a small gay population, when in fact, there's actually quite a large and prevalent one. Austin probably has the largest, but I've seen it in Houston and Dallas before too. Maybe neither have the same gay population as San Francisco, but few cities do.

I never said that I know all about texan culture. I do know a bit about the cities i've been there. But that is neither here nor there. The fact is....... gay culture and families are not nearly as prevalent in texas or anywhere in the south as they are in alameda county. Hence, this sort of curriculum is more appropriate there. I think every child at some point should at least be exposed to some sort of program that exposes them to other family and human dynamics...... before their ideals are set in stone.

More cliches? Just because I don't prattle on incessantly about my child's achievements I am not a good mother now?

I guess I should be tied to the kitchen sink by my apron strings as well - no computer time for me!

It doesn't have to be in the article - I'm merely pointing out that you're using ignorance of what the school teaches already as a justification for the idea that this new gay tolerance thing is somehow propagandist.

Excluding other parents is inherently exclusionary and the sole focus on a single group was explicit. How diffucult would it be for a professional reporter to mention similar examples? I'm no writer but I already did it.

It was explicit in the article, but the article doesn't provide an in-depth expo on other initiatives that the school already has in place. The reason being - that the "gay" angle is the hook to draw people into the story. Beyond that - very little is clear.

I don't know what they teach already - but I'm willing to bet that the schools primary focus is on what's best for the kids, and what facilitates the best learning environment for them.

You said you never attended school in the U.S. and you have kids in school here now? If not, talk about assumptions that what a school does ends up as the best course of action. I don't think they are inherently malevolent but the record of academic achievement of schools has declined over the years and flooding the classroom with more less enlightening ####### with the issue d'jour pushes out basic learning.

We're talking about elementary school. That's where you're supposed to learn how to read and write, do basic math, and learn how to integrate socially. I doubt that the process at this level differs greatly from one country to another - certainly not from the UK to the US.

So you're no more qualified to have an opinion on the subject than I am, according to your rationale.

So General Anna's army had no Mexican army uniforms or just went naked into battle? He didn't do it alone.

"In 1854 a junta of liberals -- including an up-and-coming young politico named Benito Juárez -- drove him out of office and into exile."

The Battle of the Alamo was in 1836 not 1854. Apparently, they teach more about gay tolerance in Mexico than Mexican history.

There's a huge difference between droning on about your kids and never mentioning them when asked. You're just oozing with motherly love and pride or some other unknown substance.

So you're no more qualified to have an opinion on the subject than I am, according to your rationale.

I did attend school in the U.S. and I will send my kids to a public school because I'm cheap.

Meanwhile, back to the topic in question, elementary schools are not failing children because they have turned into left wing propaganda machines - surprising I know Alien, but there it is.

Here. Found the perfect answer to avoid any possible contagion from the gheyz to your children --- 100% proven, works every time:

DO NOT REPRODUCE.

kthxbai.

Hell, I'm just in favor of less children, whether or not gays come into the picture.

It is a proven method to avoid "contamination" of all that is wrong in this decadent and putrid world ;)
