Doug wants to plant veggies, too, but the other side of our yard is concrete so he might buy a planter box. Skyblue where did you get kangkong? Tapos di ba kailangan nakatanim yun sa tubig? I miss kangkong in my sinigang. I substitute kangkong with spinach, pwede na rin. Para na tuloy ako si Popeye, kumakain ng spinach, and like Popeye lumalaki na rin tuloy ang braso ko. I can't find kangkong in the Asian Stores here in WA or OR.

It's true what you said, Mari. I have to read the instructions carefully on how to grow plants ~ if it needs sun or shade, more or less water, etc. etc. otherwise, mamamatay lang sila.

Hi Sky blue,

Ilagay mo lang sa flower vase at palitan mo ang tubig everyday tutubo yon at magkaroon ng mga dahon peru hindi xa masyaho marami.

100_0321.jpg --> Our rose trelis... love it when the roses are in full bloom... it's like a sea of read.

Mae, I like your rose trellis. Is that another variety of rose (a climbing one?) Parang gusto kong gayahin. We live in a cul de sac and our house is right smack in the middle tapos yung harap ng bahay ko halos bare naman and devoid of color. Nakakahiya tuloy kasi kulang sa "presentation". If I build trellis (naks, akala mo naman ako ang magtatayo), it would bring life and color to the facade of our house.

I am relegated to pulling out small weeds rather than digging them up and turning the soil, now that I am early in my pregnancy. I plan to lay down some mulch to keep the weeds down for now. We have to take down the bushes in front of the porch as we both hate them, and replace them with a bed of flowers. I have a few tulips at the base of a tree in the corner of the yard though I wish that i could cut-off and steal the bulbs of my neighbor's various-coloured tulips and plant them in my yard :D

Congratulations on your pregnancy, Dra. Gracey. Hinay-hinay lang muna sa gardening.

Pareho tayo ng iniisip minsan about stealing flowering bulbs from the neighbors hahahaha. I'm so jealous of their garden and flowers. Our neighbors are obssessed with their yards and gardens that they mow their grass every four days. Their lawns are impeccable. It's hard to keep up with them.

If I build trellis (naks, akala mo naman ako ang magtatayo), it would bring life and color to the facade of our house.

I asked David and he said it's either "trellis rose" or "climbing rose". He planted those 5 years ago. Basically, he just planted two of them (one on each side) and then as soon as they reached the top, he kind of bent it towards each other -- thus the trellis. I so admire David for his passion on anything that involves soil + living things. It's like whatever his hands touch turn alive. We even have apple trees, grapevines on our pond area, peaches, nectarines, plums and 3 kinds of pears for fruits. Right now we have almost all kinds of vegetables that we like to eat. I can imagine summertime and fall would be bountiful for us. It's nice to have all these gardens and plants around the house. It is very relaxing and caring for them is very therapeutic.

Edited to add: Here in our neighborhood, residents are so into gardening. It's like it's a crime if you didn't mow your lawn for a day.
