Question about Russian culture: Is it "ok" for a grown man to lift the shirt and kiss the stomach of a 4 year old boy he doesn't even know?

Well, here in Brazil adults blow on kid's stomachs, usually babies, and usualy parents or relatives or close friends do that. Kids like it, it's fun, I would find weird if someone stopped a random kid they don't know in the middle of the street and did that, now that would be weird.gif.

So I understand his question, if it's a common thing in Russia, sometimes it's hard to understand other countries culture, what's allowed, what's normal, what's bizarre, every country has its own culture, you see italian men kissing other men in the cheeks, you won't see that in Brazil unless it's father and son or homosexual men, you see japanese people bowing, you won't see here in Brazil unless someone just finished a piano concert and it's bowing to their audience.

It is important to understand that the Europeans in general, and not just the Russians, don't have the paranoid concepts of seeing dark reasons for the interactions of adult males with women and children.

In much of Europe in general, people can and will ask adult strangers to "look after their kids" while they go to the bathroom or purchase food at the food stand, especially if there had been any interaction with the "stranger". American males, especially, are considered to be gentlemen of the highest degree.

I am sure there are many American special interest groups that would like to reverse this image of Americans and of men in general (both on the right and the left of politics).

Meanwhile, Russia is still a place where the leader of the country can give a kid a raspberry and not be thought of as being a gay child molestor. This would only help his ratings in the polls because Russian people just don't have minds in the gutter the way many of our domestic special interest groups would want them to.

And this attitude that all men are innocent unless proven guilty...is one hell of a reason why there are so many foreign marriages. A great attitude toward adult males seeps through within minutes after a person arrives in any given country.

any tongue action?

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

Giving a kid a playful raspberry is one thing...giving the nervous kid the bedroom eyes while you lift his shirt is entirely something else...ewwww!!!

disagree..i think it is not common practice at all..to kiss a kid's stomach...or give him a raspsberry and not know the youngster..

its like teaching a child do not talk to strangers... more so, dont let them lift your shirt and give your belly kisses...

i personally think it's odd. if it were family or a family friend i would totally understand... but not someone you just met...
