For the DS 230 for question # 3 If the name is spelled the same way, do I still have to write it there?

03-22-2009: 130 NOA2

NVC

03-30-2009: NVC received file

04-03-2009: NVC assigned case number

04-07-2009: Received bill

04-08-2009: Paid bills online

04-09-2009: Status shows paid for both bills

05-01-2009: Sent DS-230 and Affidavit of Support (Overnight Delivery) Lawyer took his time to fill everything out and delayed our process.

05-05-2009: NVC received package

05-11-2009: RFE thanks to the lawyer again and his assistant.

05-12-2009: RFE package sent to NVC

05-14-2009: NVC received RFE package

05-27-2009: Case finally complete!

K3 Visa

If you do not use roman letters in your name, then you answer question 3.

My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.

Roman Letter would the regular alphabet right? Like the one we're using now. Well my lawyer put N/A for that one and I got a RFE because it says I filled out wrong.

Roman is the alphabet as used by the USA as opposed to Cyrillic, Arabian, Cantonese etc.

Don't know why you would be RFE'd for that.

Roman letters is the latin alphapet. (like the one were using now).

Normally you don't place anything there, even "N/A", if you name does not have roman letters. (somebody my have tought in your native alphabet, "N/A", stands for some letter or something)

Just checked my copy of DS230 as submitted. I put in N/A in question 3, and it was accepted.

They may of had a nit picker...

I hope I don't get an RFE. My wife's alphabet is Czech. Its a version of the latin alphabet but contains a few other version of the english characters as well. Since she uses my last name, her name is in completely english characters, and does not have any of their funky marks over the letters. So I just put N/A in there. Think this will matter? I'd say to be safe, if I was doing this again, if her alphabet contains weird letters at all, I would write her name in that box and not put N/A. If her alphabet is completely english, then I would leave it blank.

The question was "Full Name in Native Alphabet (If Roman letter not used)"

We put "NONE" as my husband's name is in Roman letters. And it was accepted.

Like me :) In Bulgaria we use the Cyrillic Alphabet, so I'll be putting my name in Cyrillic :thumbs:
